Are 14 inch calves huge?

I'm 5'2" and my calves are 14 inches. I'm a size 10 and I walk a lot and swim, and I think I look in proportion! I'm trying to find some knee boots and everything I've tried on is too tight or won't zip up. (I'm a shoe size 6). Yet I do have a pair of knee boots from the 70s from my mum, who was about my size then, that fit fine! Do I have giant calves or is everything now made for women with legs about the size of a ten year old?

How strange. I'm 5'7 with 15 inch calves and boots always do up fine on me, always regular fit. Maybe it's because my feet are size 7?

Felt compelled to measure my calves! 13inches, size 6 feet, 5ft6. Normally have the opposite problem of most boots being huge around my calves.

I agree with the pp that it must be to do with foot/ankle/calf proportions. I have struggled to find boots that fit well - 5’6”, 14.5” calves, size 6 feet but wide fitting with narrow ankles. I have mid height Merrell and Ecco boots that fit really well, plus a tall pair of Clark’s wide fitting with a stretchy panel.

I also have a 35 yr old pair of Hunter wellies that fit well - modern Hunters are a different shape and material and don’t fit at all.

It’s a length thing too. For us smaller people the widest part of the calf is relatively low which causes more problems with boots. I can only wear stretch ones, M&S have some at the moment.

I have long legs (not sure if that affects proportions) and my calves are 12.5 inches. I've always had very slim limbs though and my calves have always been considered small. Getting to this size has involved building bulk at the gym.

I'm short and have 16" calves and have to buy knee high boots from Simply Be to fit. Can't fit into high st boots. Had trouble buying wellies and they don't pull up all the way on me so wrinkle a bit. It is a combination of short legs and muscly calves. Long legged women don't realise how easy they have it!
