To think that Next will give me a refund?

Bought a few bits in a Next outlet centre last week. I only want to keep one item and return three. I can't find the receipt - not thrown it away but cannot find it anywhere. I paid by card so I have a record of the purchase. If I take everything back along with the skirt I want to keep will they refund, do you think? Or credit note? I don't mind either, I just don't want to be stuck with a load of stuff I don't want!

I have just found the receipt 😊
Thank you so much everyone. Am embarrassed now.
For future reference I have tucked it into the little pocket of the bag which holds the items I want to return 😀

Molehillfromamountain Your store might do, but that doesn't mean you can apply the logic that because your store does, most stores do.

Glad you found it OP :) In future though don't listen to what these big stores try to say to you, you always have the right to return something if it has its labels on and you have the transaction on your card.

silverbell64 Please don't spout incorrect information.

You only have the right to return an item if it is faulty.

If it is not faulty, you have no rights whatsoever, even with a receipt (though of course due to customer relations, if you have a receipt, they will most likely do a return, but the point is they don't have to).

Grin yes you can always return an unwanted, unused item.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 28/10/2017 21:41

silverbell64 And your proof for that is where?

Because I've shown you proof that if an item is not faulty, you have no right to a refund.

You can't just spout stuff you believe to be true and claim it as fact.

silverbell64 Oh, and if the last link wasn't enough proof, here it is from the government's own website.

You don’t have to refund a customer if they:

• no longer want an item (eg because it’s the wrong size or colour) unless they bought it without seeing it

Whattodo is 100% correct. No store is obliged to give a refund for an item that is fit for purpose. Having a receipt makes no difference. They may offer a refund or exchange as a gesture of goodwill.

Sigh. It's like when folk say "If something has got the wrong price on, the store HAS to sell it to you at that price". No. No, they don't.
