To report her to ASDA Customer Services?

On Sunday, I was doing a quick shop at about 3.30.

I was in the shop for all of two minutes before a tannoy (I think that’s how you spell it?), announcement declared there were sandwiches between 6p and 10p at the customer service till.

I took a swift walk down with my trolley, only to find everything on a smaller version of one of those bread trolleys supermarkets have.

I went to have a look at first (didn’t touch), and the ASDA lady standing there said “Can I help you?” I said just looking and she was all Hmm

I went to pick up a sandwich and it was snatched away, with her saying “Excuse me! That’s mine thank you. I’ve already paid for them all, hands off” with a very intimidating smile.

I’m 37 weeks pregnant, took this to heart and felt myself go hot with embarrasmenf as I walked away Blush

AIBU to expect better customer service and report the incident to customer services?

I still feel quite silly over it. She was in full uniform and as I was getting bread, I saw her wheel the trolley into the back room! Implying she wasn’t off her shift yet even.

I’d be curious about what they’d do too, probably send you vouchers? Depending on how you worded the complaint and how cheeky you made her sound. Just sounds like she’d get a rebrief on procedure and customer service if anything though.

At my company (women’s fashion) when sale launches staff would definitely have first pick and buy stuff before/after our shifts and can put things on reserve like customers can. So if there was night shifts and I finish at 7am, I’m buying my items at 7am even though the store opens at 10. Or if I started at 9am or finished at 11pm when markdown begins or whatever. Might be unfair for customers but it’s a perk of the job surely? We definitely wouldn’t have got into trouble, management would be the ones serving us lol

Also it depends on the management atmosphere, the seniority of the staff member involved etc if she could reserve/buy stuff during her shift or take the whole trolley or not, some managers don’t really mind

Asda is a lovely unisex name OP

A paying customer is a paying customer.

But she wasn’t a customer, she was a member of staff. I picked up some very reduced stuff once in Asda. The checkout lady commented to me that she would have liked some but they weren’t allowed to buy it (I’m presuming she meant while they were on duty, I don’t imagine they’re barred from shopping there in their own time). And if it was ok for the staff to buy it presumably they wouldn’t have put an announcement on the tannoy.
It isn’t the job of staff to make the customers feel small.

I'd definitely have a taken a nice photo of her and the sandwhiches and tweeted it. They love that!

So what did they say?
