Background - been on four dates. He's really fantastic. Really fab actually. Blush He cooked for me on Saturday - lemony chicken and a kind of fragrant sticky rice. He did chocolate creme brûlée for after, which was lovely. Simple but super tasty.

My "speciality" is lasagne. It's not very "attractive" though... Confused

Can I ask what you first cooked for your significant other and how it went? Any tips? I know we both hate mushrooms...

Lighthearted - so comments about impressing men with cooking and being the "little woman" are unnecessary for this thread. No bun fights unless they are olive focaccia... Wink- this is something I want to do and want to do well Grin

Thanks in advance

Beef Dopiaza, is a delia smith recipe, very tasty!

5foot5 · 24/10/2017 17:22

Fairly traditional Sunday lunch type thing. IIRC it was roast chicken and vegetables and then a chocolate cake filled with raspberries and cream.

I remember he was a bit startled when I handed him the knife and asked if he would carve but he coped very well.

IrritatedUser1960 · 24/10/2017 17:23

crazycatlady5 · 24/10/2017 17:24

Spag Bol Grin it’s his fave though so...

UrsulaPandress · 24/10/2017 17:24

Red Dragon Pie.

He ate it.

PollyPerky · 24/10/2017 17:25

why is it unreasonable to ask? Honestly, people use AIBU for any old thing.
AIBU to ask why you don't post in food?

iklboo · 24/10/2017 17:25

Apart from potato skins & chicken satay sticks from Tesco when we started going out the first proper thing I cooked him was a beef roast dinner.

SpottedGingham · 24/10/2017 17:25

He cooked for me the first time. A delicious home made Chinese meal. I think I cooked him a spag GrinBol

TieGrr · 24/10/2017 17:25

I think it was salmon.

wobblywonderwoman · 24/10/2017 17:26

Steak and roasted veg/back potatoes

Other other easy things you could do-

Cajun salmon (so so easy)
Chicken skewers (teriyaki sauce)

thecraftyfox · 24/10/2017 17:26

Black bean and sweet potato chili plus guacamole and salsa, tortilla chips and green rice.
It's delicious but perhaps not one to try if a sleepover could be on the cards!

Ragwort · 24/10/2017 17:27

Not to be recommended but the first meal I cooked DH was cheese scones with leek and potato soup ............... he politely ate both but many months later he told there were only two food things he really didn't like - yes, you've guessed it Grin.

We've been married 30 years and still have a laugh whenever we see those two items on a menu !

DeadMorose · 24/10/2017 17:27

Pancakes.

anyoldname76 · 24/10/2017 17:27

Whenwillitgeteasier · 24/10/2017 17:28

I'm cooking for my new squeeze soon, it's going to be vietnamese lamb shanks with sweet potato or chicken chasseur i reckon as they're my star recipes

Yahdayah · 24/10/2017 17:29

A chicken curry.

If I were you I'd go for something like Indian or Mexican.

I'm sure whatever you make will be great Flowers

VladmirsPoutine · 24/10/2017 17:29

I recall a boyfriend once telling me that the moment he fell in love with me was one morning after a very boozy night out when he woke to find I'd made him a fish-finger sandwich with bacon.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/10/2017 17:29

Can't remember. But I do remember the first meal he cooked for me, the night I told him I was pregnant - shepherds pie. It's his specialty.

LadyDeadpool · 24/10/2017 17:29

A stir fry, where I proceeded to use a butt ton of black food colouring in the rice, He was a goth I thought he'd appreciate my efforts Blush 16 years later he still mocks me for it. Grin

Kitee · 24/10/2017 17:29

Salmon baked with chilli and satay noodles with peppers, baby corn and bean sprouts.

I’m an awful cook but it was surprisingly good.

Choc trifle for pudding (shop bought)

alisonyawn · 24/10/2017 17:29

Lasagne! It was my speciality at the time too, and he ate every scrap! I say go for it 😃

YouMakeMeFeelLikeDancing · 24/10/2017 17:30

Spaghetti bolognese

PanPanPanPing · 24/10/2017 17:30
