If I remember my Homer, quartered was when after being hung until nearly dead, cut down, entrails drawn through slices to the abdomen, your limbs were tied to ropes attached to a horse that was then either ridden to the four corners or whipped on the hind quarters so they galloped off, pulling all four limbs off.
