Do you ever feel you should be living a different life?

Just that really.

I love my life as it is, but I feel such a pull towards certain things that I wonder if I was meant to live a different one.

Anyone?

Yes I should have a bottomless bank account and a sux bedroomed mansion but I'll make do with my lot in life.

Anniegetyourgun · 21/10/2017 17:14

Ah, an excuse to link the classics!

"I hate my life."
"I hate your life too."
"If I had a life, I'd hate it."

I do wonder if my mum had treated me nicely and both parents had encouraged me to do well at school what I might be doing now.

I had no guidance on school work and choices after that really.

I'm clever but never really applied myself, and not confident enough to really succeed. I make more money than I thought I would which is something I suppose. But I do wonder what I could 'be' if I'd been encouraged and praised as a child.

YawningHippo · 21/10/2017 17:16

Just me then. Confused

I often wonder if there is another me in a parallel universe living a wonderfully glamorous and exciting life.

Sometimes I wonder how different my life would have been if I hadn't have lost out due to being seriously ill when I was a child.

However, I know that I am where I am now because of every decision that I made once I was an adult, so if I want to get to any of the dreams in that "different life" I've probably still got time to do it.

YawningHippo · 21/10/2017 17:33

I just feel that there was something I was meant to do as a job and I have this jarring feeling that I'm not living that life now and I feel this pull towards similar situations and an extreme comfort when I'm in them. It's hard to explain.

Yes, I'm meant to be living in a flat in NY with pale wood Venetian blinds and a geeky but handsome DH who has brown eyes and wears glasses. Don't know why but I've always had this image in my head since childhood

YawningHippo · 21/10/2017 18:22

That's exactly what I mean.

If you love your life as it is (I don't love mine btw!) why (genuine question) why do you feel the need to change it?

brasty · 21/10/2017 18:31

If you feel such a strong pull towards something OP, why don't you do it?

Trills · 21/10/2017 18:35

I don't believe that anything is "meant" to happen, so no.

Why do you think you are getting this feeling?

Do you believe there is a higher power that has a plan for you, and you have somehow gone off-script?

Or do you think that it's a symptom of being unhappy about something in your real life?

MuseumOfCurry · 21/10/2017 18:37

I was living in the US and engaged to a lovely man, and one day I just broke up with him. I'm not sure why. I travelled to Asia, met my husband, and moved to London.

My children have only been to my hometown a handful of times.

So yes, sometimes I am thoroughly freaked out by how far my life has taken me away from my 'intended' path.

SimonNeilshair · 21/10/2017 18:42

I do, I have almost a yearning towards Scotland and I feel like I should have ended up there instead of the Midlands. Can't do anything about it now, and I'm very happy in my life. I feel like it didn't pan out the way it should have Confused

strugglingtodomybest · 21/10/2017 18:45

I feel like I should be living in Africa.

strugglingtodomybest · 21/10/2017 18:45

And yes, I know Africa isn't a country Smile

Laiste · 21/10/2017 18:47

I married young and it went on for 15 years. I wasn't the best marriage but I never in my wildest dreams imagined i'd ever up and leave. Yet i could never picture he and i old together. Weird. I did leave in the end so my premonition was correct.

Laiste · 21/10/2017 18:48

Now i've written that it makes no real sense to the actual question Grin

chitofftheshovel · 21/10/2017 18:52

I always think there should be at least six of me but with the one thinking brain, I could experience at least some of my madhatter wantings. Ah the places I could go, the people I could encounter.

But, generally, I'm happy with my lot.

I'm not living in the right house. I've had a picture of it in my mind's eye for a very long time. Trouble is, it is - and will always be - out of our league. Sad

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/10/2017 19:01

One of my first memories was thinking there had been an awful mistake and I should have been born in Southern California not Northern England.

I came across Astrocartography and found my best place I should live is just north of L.A.

Apparently the UK is not where I should live. Bad crossings affecting everywhere in the UK which could explain why everything in my life is so hard.

I have never settled in any house I have lived in. But the first time I went to the America I felt at home.

YawningHippo · 21/10/2017 19:17

It's sadly something beyond my capabilities now my life is how it is.

It's not that I wish to change my life now, I just feel I was meant to be doing this other thing and ended up on the wrong path.

OP posts:
YawningHippo · 21/10/2017 19:23

I don't believe in a higher power. Just this one thing. That I was meant to do/be something and I didn't realise until too late that it was what I should have done.
