Just read another thread about earnings. How old are you and what do you earn? I'm nosey!!

OP posts:
Gertiegoolash · 22/10/2017 14:58

I'm 42 and earn 14k a year. I'm a primary school TA Sen 1to1. Yes I get all the holidays, but it's peanuts for what I actually do. I think TAs, especially SEN are massively underpaid for the work they do. I'm looking to changing jobs next year.

Bluntness100 · 22/10/2017 15:09

I am apparently not allowed to reply as I don't currently work

That’s not true, and it’s not what the other thread was about, you simoly answer saying I earn nothing as I don’t have paid employment. Why would posting what your husband earns be helpful? The thread is not what does your husband earn. If your husband is a member of mumsnet he can post what he earns.

Or if you reallg wish to discuss how much your husband earns, start a thread titled “how much does your husband earn”, then tell everyone.

mmgirish · 22/10/2017 15:10

38 earning 40k after tax plus free school tuition, annual flights and health insurance for family

Teacher (International)

RaindropsAndSparkles · 22/10/2017 15:31

DS, 22, £23k first job in gap yr
DD, 19 £18k pro rated for 2.5 yrs first job in gap yr
Me, £65k (ish) would have to look up pay spine
DH, A Lot

But, both DC got jobs within a week or two of looking (London) both offered 3 out of 4 interviews. There does seem to be plenty of work about at present.

coldweatherlove · 22/10/2017 15:43

24 and 30k part time

Carme1 · 22/10/2017 16:35

Eh? Why is it only women who work who are allowed to mention what their DH's earn (even what their DC earn), but not SAHMs?

In all cases, its household income that counts, surely? That's what you actually live off.

I earn nothing.

That was interesting wasn't it.

starkid · 22/10/2017 17:01

This is a whole other world. Where I'm from, £35k is good money, and I'm in the south. Weird. Makes me nervous actually

Fantasticday69 · 22/10/2017 17:02

If the op is interested in what jobs attract what salary than why should it matter whether said person is make or female? If it does than maybe *raindrops shouldn't bother saying what her ds earns.

Fantasticday69 · 22/10/2017 17:04

Male or female. Poxy auto-correct.

Fantasticday69 · 22/10/2017 17:08

It is just double standards. Lots of working people have said what their dh earns.
No one has started a thread saying you shouldn't do this as you ate taking their achievements as your own. Only Sah do this apparently.

KimchiLaLa · 22/10/2017 17:11

Me - 52k excl bonus
DH - around 200k excl bonus (he's in finance)

Fantasticday69 · 22/10/2017 17:38

Even stranger is that hardly any Sah have even posted on this thread. Only woh so other thread was clearly just a vehicle to have a dig at Sah.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 22/10/2017 17:41

I noticed that as well fantastic

maddiemookins16mum · 22/10/2017 17:46

All I'd add to this often eye watering thread is.....don't ever work in the travel industry, notoriously low paid.

User36367292 · 22/10/2017 17:46

Me and spouse £52 and £38. Live up North. Pretty fortunate.

Fantasticday69 · 22/10/2017 17:50

Yes Rufus only found this thread after wasting too much of my lazy life on the other one and you know what I think I found one post from a Sah.
At least other thread is now dead.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 22/10/2017 17:52

It was certainly being used as an excuse to start the other thread

I dont know why an excuse was needed...its about 1 a week Smile

Carme1 · 22/10/2017 18:03

Exactly Fantastic and Rufus. The OP of that other thread had a bag of chips on her shoulder, that's for sure.

Fantasticday69 · 22/10/2017 18:51

bluntness plenty of working people have divulged their partners salaries. Why is that acceptable but not for a Sah to do it?
supasara and onion I can't say I have seen many Sah on this thread mention their partners salaries. Didn't realise this was so prevalent.

DownstairsMixUp · 22/10/2017 19:06

It’s very middle class here isn’t it?

I’m a ft student nurse at the moment so 10k bursary, 2k student loan, I get some help for childcare costs.

When I qualify I’ll start on about 25k here as a band five staff nurse. I’m 30 and will be 31 when I qualify.

BeerBaby · 22/10/2017 19:11

40's I earn less than I'd get on JSA but at least im working and it's not many hours.

chestylarue52 · 22/10/2017 21:18

£120k pa. I do work for it though 🙂

Fekko · 22/10/2017 21:22

I think we all work for it.

chestylarue52 · 22/10/2017 21:22

Sorry just seen extra questions. I'm 35 and a software engineer/consultant

chestylarue52 · 22/10/2017 21:24

Ok fekko. I mean, I do 12 hour days, 6 days a week, I travel constantly, I am one of those typical 'have given up having kids for a career' types.
