To Ask That I'm Not Spoken to Like A 5 Year Old Over The Phone!

Twice today I’ve been spoken to as if I’m a small child! I know I sound young but I’m in my late 50s.

What gives people the right to jump to the conclusion I’m very young and don’t understand the process I’m trying to converse about? Confused Even if I was young I think I’d still think it UR for the person at the other end to think I was incapable of doing my job!

Who are these people?

What are they trying to explain to you?

It's your phone, you can cut a conversation short whenever you bloody want to - especially if you're being patronised by knuckleheads.

Give them something to think about though, don't be totally mean. I find 'I must go. The undertaker has just fallen through the hatch' a useful one.

I once had to ring our Internet provider because our modem was broken. I told her I'd already checked everything all connections etc. She insisted on running through me checking every single thing again with her on the phone explaining every step as though I was stupid and at the end said "OK your modems broken so we will send a new one out" yes stupid that's what I told you in the first place arghh

Fizzy and Cookies - I was trying to obtain information re cancelling a contract, that was the 2nd time today.

The first time I was talking to a call centre regarding unreasonable clauses put into a contract. This is my specialisation at work and I am suitably qualified to negotiate these type of amendments. I had to ask to speak to their supervisor! To be fair, as soon as the supervisor heard it was me calling, asked me to email them with the amendments required and they would get them actioned immediately. However, I shouldn’t have to go to these lengths to do my job.

I feel I’ve left it too late to consider vocal training
