Things are moving quite quickly this week. Sanders yesterday stating that generals aren’t to be questioned is a big move towards authoritarianism, and although there has been a bit of a pushback (WaPo running a piece saying they think Kelly should apologise), it’s unlikely that there’ll be any consequences for the lying. Voting suppression is being pushed and there is no move to stem it. There’s been rollbacks on women’s rights and it doesn’t look like it’s stopping. And now trump has issued a spontaneous memo about miltiary justice but even more worryingly, revised an eo about military service that means he can recall retired service members into action. Why is this necessary? What has he planned?

The White House just released this statement about the president's views on military justice. What prompted it?

Very bad sign, with many possibilities as to how this could be used for autocratic aims. Wondering what legal scholars are making of it.
