WIBU to ask my neighbour to get rid of their Russian Vine?

Lovely, lovely neighbours. Probably the best neighbours in the world. We occasionally socialise. Our DC play together. Not a single thing I would change about them. Apart from the Russian Vine (aka Mile a Minute) plant they put next to the fence.

It is a total PITA. Grow so fast. Taking up oooodles of our garden. Means 2 feet of the deck we cannot sit on as we are draped with fluffy flowers and viney bits. It smells. It drop petals everywhere. Stains the deck. Is growing up under the deck. Through the deck. Through the fence. Trimming it back is almost pointless as 2 weeks later it has grown out and down 2-3 even 4 foot again.

It is driving DH and I mad. We have a ow maintenance garden. Apart from this sodding plant. Which we don't want to trim every 2-3 weeks!

If we offered some garden centre vouchers for them to replace it with something else, WIBU to ask them to get rid of it?

YANBU. I hope they agree!

I think explaining the problem and asking them to consider removing it is perfectly reasonable.

I was all set to say YABU but if it’s damaging your decking, YANBU.

I have just been googling...and Gardening Google seems to view this bloody plant as a) A menace because it grows so fucking fast and b) a total ballache to kill/remove (related to Japanese Knotweed).

OK, I braved it and they were lovely. Going to tackle it and replace with something less over-powering/big.

Knew they'd be lovely but needed a quick sense-check in case I was being out of order.

When they get rid of it, be sure to take round a bottle to say thank you.

Get them a lovely 'thank you' present. How about baby Triffids?
