To ignore the 'do not reheat' on M&S raw meat packages?

I noticed that all the raw meat I am buying from M&S has 'Do not reheat' on the packages.

So in other words I cannot for example, according to them, make a bolognese sauce from raw meat ingredients bought at M&S and then refrigerate or freeze it to reheat later!!

Nor can I make a casserole from beef chunks and reheat the leftovers next day etc etc
I contacted M&S via their Facebook to ask them why it says 'do not reheat' and got a reply that makes no sense.
Any food techy people here who might have any sensible reason to explain why M&S raw meat is different from raw meat bought everywhere else so that it needs this warning on it?

Does it actually mean do not reheat AFTER cooking though? Can't be right?

They’re using the same labelling as they do on pre-made food, as they can’t be bothered to issue (or pay for) new labelling. I raised this back when my neice worked for them and she was told emphatically that it was to encourage people to buy more.

I suspect it's just covering their backs. If you don't refrigerate it, don't reheat it thoroughly and get ill you can't blame M&S.

MrTrebus - it must mean that because otherwise it would mean you couldn't even cook it from raw!! LOLS

That is interesting. It seems a bit mean to encourage people to waste food though especially at a time when other supermarkets are trying to encourage people not to waste food.

YANBU. I ignore a lot of food safety guidance and it's never done me any harm. Do not reheat is absolutely designed to encourage people to throw away perfectly good food and buy more.

No reason at all not to.reheat after cooking ( as long g as you cooked it properly and refrigerated or frozen).
Are you sure it doesn't say re-freeze rather than re-heat, as that would make sense for previously frozen raw meat?
Even if previously frozen, still fine to cook and re-heat though.

No definitely - do not reheat!!!

To add to the ridiculousness - I just got back from my weekly shop and discovered it says it on the back of the M&S bag of potatoes too!!!

Spuds. In their peel. Raw. With instructions how to bake them and followed by the now constantly haunting me instruction not to reheat them!!!

Here they are. Two meat packages with Do Not Reheat on them and a bag of spuds with the same instruction!!!

Bonkers. I have made stew etc from M&S beef, then reheated portions from frozen and am still alive.

I didn’t even realise bags of spuds had instructions on them!

Cook once, reheat once, I'm a cook and that's the golden rule. Reheat from frozen if you want with everything except rice.
