Petition to keep the category of sex a mandatory question in the 2021 Census

This situation has clearly come about because of recent publicity admit trans people and gender identity, but please don't be afraid of sharing this petition on social media. You don't need to mention anything about trans people. All you need to say is that it's important to count women so as to provide services and keep track of social inequality.

Women will still be counted, services will still be provided. If it doesn't harm anyone to not be forced to answer a question why should I object?

Signed - it is vitally important that service providers know how many females and makes there are - how else are they able to plan services if they dont know likely demand. Too many concessipns being made to the relatively miniscule number of trans, fluids etc

Yeah we definitely need 'sex at birth' or something...this could be added to with 'gender identity' with a thousand different options...but the sex at birth is important too.

I'm guessing no-one thought to speak to the ONS who have made a statement on the story last weekend ?

The questions about sex are not being replaced by gender, the gender questions will be in addition to any about sex - if they even get that far, as everything is still in consultation.
