Had had a bit of wine and watching his new documentary, just thinking how wonderful he is and wouldn’t mind a night with him at all.

Because they’re first responders. Here in North America all first responders (fire, police and ambulance) are trained to give initial life-saving treatment. Not to the same extent as paramedics but more than first aid.

heateallthebuns · 09/10/2017 16:06

Ps I really doubt his family or any famous persons family would care, or read this thread. It's ok to say you fancy fit men.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/10/2017 16:06

There's a huge difference between leering and wolf whistling and generally being intimidating and letchy and quietly admiring a man or woman and wondering what it would be like to shag them or are we only meant behave like 'well behaved Victorian women?'

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 09/10/2017 16:09

a colleague of mine is BFF with his wife

I don't know if she reads MN, fucking hope she doesn't

question. what would we say if a man posted a thread with this exact title?

I suspect we wouldn't like it so much

the double standards on here are rife. its like that thread slating TMs jacket too

Bullshit

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/10/2017 16:10

Why would his wife be bothered about random internet people thinking her husband is attractive?Confused

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/10/2017 16:11

Jamie from Outlander did recently mildly object to being objectified. In his case though his acting is summarily ignored in favour of his arse. That objection I get. Louis is being described as intelligent, having a great interviewing style and being right-on. And therefore fuckable. Hardly the same as describing women as a set of physical features.

I used to find Jeremy Paxman wildly attractive based on his interviewing style, not his arse. It’s vastly less insulting, objectifying and threatening.

heateallthebuns · 09/10/2017 16:16

If they posted a thread on mumsnet about a woman being fuckable I wouldn't like it. But I imagine they post about a million on more male orientated sites which I don't know or care about.

MargotLovedTom1 · 09/10/2017 16:19

Nowt wrong with a bit of earthy language, especially when it comes to matters related to fucking sexual intercourse.

I love him too; have done for years. He and Jarvis Cocker were always my lanky bespectacled dream shags.

AfunaMbatata · 09/10/2017 16:20

Huge overreaction here. I haven’t spoken about his body parts as if he were an object, I think he is handsome and he’s clever , funny and so unjudgemental of the people he interviews. I luffs him.

Attractive and fuckable are not the same. His wife is no doubt aware her dh is the apple of many a middle aged womans eye, but fuckable is another thing altogether. As you obviously know.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/10/2017 16:23

I agree, I find it very odd that if you find someone attractive you are 'reducing them to a series of bumps and holes',which tbh is frankly a disgusting phrase if we're talking about revolting language.

MorrisZapp · 09/10/2017 16:24

Benedict Cumberbatch and the Poldark actor have also said they don't like the more objectifying language and that their partners find it disrespectful.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/10/2017 16:24

Ahhhh right,he has lovely glasses,he has lovely hair,he is lovely and tall,he has nice teeth and I want to fuck him

AfunaMbatata · 09/10/2017 16:25

Fuckable to me just means everything about the person makes me want to fuck them. Seems to have others connotations for you?

MorrisZapp · 09/10/2017 16:26

Diazepam, that was in direct response to the a comment about Victoria Coren, who a pp said was a female geek equivalent. I mentioned that her breasts are talked about on many websites. She is absolutely objectified.

MorrisZapp · 09/10/2017 16:27

So if your son or daughter was perceived by strangers as being fuckable, that to you means that they are considered to be attractive?

HargenDarse · 09/10/2017 16:32

Disgusted that you're sexualising him

heateallthebuns · 09/10/2017 16:32

Oh my god. Stop derailing the thread with offence about using the word fuckable. I think he's fuckable and has nice hair. But don't worry mrs Theroux I very much respect him also. Let's have more pics of Louis, preferably with his top off.

AfunaMbatata · 09/10/2017 16:34

It would depend on how they meant it wouldn’t it? Sexy is another word that could be used but to me that always seems more to do with how a person looks physically.

Prefer his dad Paul in his younger days. Louis comes across as a bit too nice.

AfunaMbatata · 09/10/2017 16:35

And I have no power over how other people will think of my child, I’m not the thought police.

marmee · 09/10/2017 16:38

he does self-aware with his attractiveness. Look at him all soft here. This was the swingers doc. He has a lovely empathy with people.

Oh I didn't click his dad was Paul Theroux ( daft as well as objectifying it seems!) I just googled and he wrote The Mosquito Coast, which I love! Bloody hell, talented family.

HargenDarse · 09/10/2017 16:40

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I prefer a fit hunk in his 20's.
