To ask what movie scene never fails to make you cry even after numerous watches

I’m watching Moana with the kids today, for the billionth time (I don’t mind as I love the film) and no matter how hard I try I always cry at the scene where the grandma tells Moana to go and find Maui, then she’s dies and her spirit fish swims into the sea and above Moana. You’d think I would be immune to it by now, but no!

What makes you cry every time?

MattAlbie · 07/10/2017 18:02

Con Air - Cameron Poe finally meets his daughter

The Sixth Sense - Cole tells his mother his secret.

buckbeak · 07/10/2017 18:02

Harry Potter films make me sad, it’s the abusive childhood he had, poor kid Sad

The boy in the striped pyjamas, the ending is horrific.

What to expect when your expecting, the part where she has a miscarriage, id just lost my son, still can’t watch that film.

Dumbo with his mum.

Ps I love you SadSad

Haven't read the whole thread so here's mine.

The Bridges of Madison County when she chooses her family life over her great love.

When Yoda dies. I'm not even a Star Wars fan but goodness, it gets me.

EvilDoctorBallerinaVampireDuck · 07/10/2017 18:04

Fred Weasley dying has me blubbering like an idiot. 😭

bonbonours · 07/10/2017 18:05

ET and also the song When she loved me from Toy story 2. And a million other films.....

stargirl1701 · 07/10/2017 18:06

ET. 😢

bonbonours · 07/10/2017 18:09

Oh yes totally EmmaThompson pulling the duvet straight in love actually. And the funeral speech in 4 weddings.

Hassled · 07/10/2017 18:09

The boys singing Bye Bye Blackbird at the end of The History Boys. Even though they were way too soft on Hector.

Hassled · 07/10/2017 18:11

@stormwhale - don't, when your DD is older, watch Mamma Mia in the cinema with her the night before she goes to university. That was me and I was a wreck - snot everywhere, wracking sobs, a total embarrassment. The whole cinema judged me.

spankhurst · 07/10/2017 18:15

The ends of Toy Story 3, Shadowlands and The Hours.
Whit.
The end of Control, which is Ian Curtis' last epileptic fit and then suicide. I bawled like a baby.

FannyTheFlamingo · 07/10/2017 18:20

I cry at bloody everything!

First to come to mind are, Awakenings, for pretty much the whole film and Men Of Honour at the end when Cuba Gooding Jr does 12 steps in the diving suit... tried to attach link...

BaggypantsCrimplesnitch · 07/10/2017 18:22

Oh, and Stewart - A Life Backwards, when Benedict Cumberbatch's character is listening to the radio and the news of Stewart's death comes on the news...

NefretForth · 07/10/2017 18:25

Lots that have been listed, but one I think no-one else has mentioned yet is in To Kill A Mockingbird. "Stand up, Miss Jean Louise, your father's passing."

wherewithal · 07/10/2017 18:35

Wit, Emma Thompson, pretty much the whole movie

Hotheadwheresthecoldbath · 07/10/2017 18:40

So many but especially the beginning of up but also terminator when Arni has to destroy himself.

Willow2017 · 07/10/2017 18:43

I can't listen to 'slipping through my fingers' these days and I have boys but it's the same thing.

P.s.i love you is just one big sobfest 😀
Was trying to remember the other 'end of the world' film last night and see it up thread. Deep impact - where Tia 'steals' the little girl then gives her mum her place on the helicopter. Then standing with her dad on the beach. The mum giving her daughter her baby too.

Oh hell gotta stop thinking of these things poor ol Monty Don has gone blurry!

Doreah · 07/10/2017 18:46

Green Mile - Edward Delacroix's death (so evil what Percy does) and John Coffeys death (don't put me in the dark boss).

Titanic - When the old couple are cuddling on the as the water comes in and when the mother in 3rd class is telling her kids a story knowing they are all going to die. Their acceptance of their fate really get to me.

Les Mis - I dreamed a dream scene, so powerfully acted, I sob every single time.

DeepestBlues · 07/10/2017 18:47

The Horse Whisperer makes me well up a lot!

Willow2017 · 07/10/2017 18:48

cockacida
Watched 'the iron giant' with ds1 years ago and we both cried at the end. He never wanted to watch it again.😐

CodeineAndCornflakes · 07/10/2017 18:49

Seeing Harry Potter dig the grave and then seeing "Here lies Dobby, a free Elf" Sad

Sarahh2014 · 07/10/2017 18:50

In Ghost when Patrick swayze goes up to heaven...' I love you Molly..'

WeeM · 07/10/2017 18:53

That first bit of Up is frankly unwatchable it's that sad. And the bit in pretty woman when he comes in and she's in that red dress and the necklace bit...honestly I'm welling up typing it!
