To ask what movie scene never fails to make you cry even after numerous watches

I’m watching Moana with the kids today, for the billionth time (I don’t mind as I love the film) and no matter how hard I try I always cry at the scene where the grandma tells Moana to go and find Maui, then she’s dies and her spirit fish swims into the sea and above Moana. You’d think I would be immune to it by now, but no!

What makes you cry every time?

ArseHair · 07/10/2017 19:00

The end of Ghost' - 'Ditto' sobs.

Circle of Life in the Lion King.

The whole of My Sisters Keeper.

99% of Kramer Vs Kramer.

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/10/2017 19:02

oh yes, the baby in Deep Impact, the girl takes her and they escape on the motorbike and go up to the hills to escape the water, I had nightmares for years over that film.
Fred Weasley dies ? :( I've only just started on the HP films.
I don't have kids but never even heard of Up! I must be living in a cave. What makes it so sad?
Hang on, what?!! Dobby dies too?! Mind you, he is bloody annoying.

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/10/2017 19:05

The ending of Deep Impact has always haunted me..Tea Leoni's character reconcile with her father and they watch the tidal wave approaching them... knowing they'll die together
I could never watch this again, all too real

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/10/2017 19:14

This - also the scene where he's viewing the photos in Anthony Hopkins' house and the wife has to turn away to cry.

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 07/10/2017 19:19

Forgot to mention the film Life is Beautiful

dustybluebell · 07/10/2017 19:25

I haven't RTFT, but mine is Benjamin Button, and a dogs purpose. I saw it recently at the cinema with no tissues.. that was embarrassing.

bumblingbovine49 · 07/10/2017 20:13

Shadowlands. Story of CS Lewis and his wife who he met late in life and who died. I ugly cry ( big gasping sons with snotty nose) through the last quarter every blooming time.

Beaches

I don't cry at films, but England 1 Iceland 2 at Euro 2016 had me reaching for the Kleenex...

FannyTheFlamingo · 07/10/2017 20:40

@alltoomuchrightnow oh the end of Elephant Man when he takes the pillow away 😭

haveacupoftea · 07/10/2017 20:59

Haven't RTFT and I know it will have been mentioned plenty of times but the scene in Love Actually where Emma Thompson opens the CD from her husband and realises he gave the gold necklace to someone else Sad

haveacupoftea · 07/10/2017 21:00

Hit post too soon... the second when she hides from the kids but Alan Rickman calls her and she wipes her tears away and forces a smile for the kids SadSad

19lottie82 · 07/10/2017 21:03

Forrest Gump when he meets little Forrest.

My Girl at the funeral.

Pretty much all of Haitchi.

God I'm welling up now, just thinking about it!

Rattail · 07/10/2017 21:16

All of the impossible and when snake finds lily potter dead

Rattail · 07/10/2017 21:16

*snake obviously

Lucked · 07/10/2017 21:17

As mentioned above Alice stepping off the club for in last if the Moment Mohicans.

I made the mistake of watching UP on a plane, I absolutely humiliated myself with tears. I don't know if it would make me cry again as I have never been brave enough to watch it again.

I end of About Time makes me well up every time.

And then there are the classics - Love Story, Terms of Endearment and Steele Magnolias.

Dustbunny1900 · 07/10/2017 21:23

bumbling holy crap I remember as a very small child my parents watched that CS Lewis movie..I remember a dark haired woman saying to him "I'm dying" and wow yea that was quite haunting. Certainly stuck in my memory over 26 years later

Maddy70 · 07/10/2017 21:24

Love actually when she opens the cd expecting the necklace everytime

Maddy70 · 07/10/2017 21:25

Ooooh and in as good as it gets when she asks for a compliment and he says she makes him want to be a better man

Puddlesy · 07/10/2017 21:26

When Dumbo visits his mother in the cage.

I'm welling up thinking about it.

Puddlesy · 07/10/2017 21:31

UP! goes without saying. I don't know one adult who doesn't get a lump in their throat.

alltoomuchrightnow - watch it. Now. It's a lovely uplifting film but so sad.

bimbobaggins · 07/10/2017 21:51

this will really out me because everyone knows this about me but the scene in the film cool running where they crash out of the race and they are carrying their bobsled over the line and everyone is clapping for them. I honestly don't know why it affects me so much.
There's plenty of other films that have me shedding a silent tear but this is full on waterworks

thedinosaur · 07/10/2017 21:57

My DP just said "Pretty Woman" when he comes back for her in the limo at the end of the film.

I'm crying with laughter Grin

gloriawasright · 07/10/2017 22:03
