It’s high time we changed our mattress. We’re waking up sore in the morning, we’ve changed our mattress for the one in the spare room which is better but not good in any way!!

I think our max budget is around 1k maybe 1.5k if it had bells and whistles and was perfect?

So can you/ would you recommend yours? If so what brand? If not what is your dream bed? :)

Yes, same here! I'm hoping we can get a few more years out of ours though.

highwoodwitch · 05/10/2017 00:39

Bought a double Vi spring over 20 years ago, it's just been relegated to the spare room now but it is still like new. Only replaced it because we wanted a king size width but a double length to fit bedroom. No problem for vi spring as can be made to any size. Both beds excellent. You can choose cover cloth, base cloth, leg height and colour etc. You will never regret buying a Vi spring - worth every penny.

DeadDoorpost · 05/10/2017 00:46

Woulsnt recommend mine it's been used ;)

Honestly, ours is one from Ikea, don't remember the name and it's uncomfortable. Tut might be because I'm pregnant though. But I do wish we'd gone for a thicker, more expensive one.

5rivers7hills · 05/10/2017 02:49

I’ve got a simba and am very pleased with it - supportive but not too hard

NoMudNoLotus · 05/10/2017 02:50

Eve

5rivers7hills · 05/10/2017 02:53

@WineIsMyMainVice just shows how different people like different mattress - I didn’t like he Leesa and sent it back in the guarantee period (no issues doing so).

dinodiva · 05/10/2017 07:36

Ours is from Warren Evans and am very happy with it. Rather than the type, it was a blessing in disguise when the super kingsize mattress didn’t fit up the stairs. We got zip and link singles with a topper, and it means that I don’t feel the aftershocks of DH flinging himself about.

Cadenza1818 · 05/10/2017 08:15

I had a pocket master iris from dreams. As I say not good. It went saggy quite quickly. Have to say I had a mid range ikea one which was good. I'm going to look at simba.happy shopping!

Toadinthehole · 05/10/2017 08:55

Sleepyhead. 10/10.

CollieBobs · 05/10/2017 08:58

We bought an Eve mattress last week. Last night was our first night on it! It's brilliant.

Also I saved £220 by ordering via Achica then adding a Achica voucher code!

MrTrebus · 05/10/2017 09:01

@CollieBobs please can you point us in the direction of the code? That sort of discount would make me go for the Eve thanks!

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 05/10/2017 09:06

We’ve got Warren Evans and found them very comfy. It cost somewhere between 500 and 1,000 can’t remember exactly and I liked being able to go to the showroom rather than faffing around with ordering online and returning if you don’t like it.

CollieBobs · 05/10/2017 09:09

MrTrebus sure!

www.achica.com/product/5172330/eve-double-mattress which is just £474 (Eve is £599 on the Eve website)

Then I popped HYGGE20 in at the checkout and it gave me an additional £94.80 off. Total saving of £219.80

Really hope the voucher code wasn't a glitch and that it works for others too.

Also Achica say that delivery is a few weeks but we received ours yesterday (by surprise! There was no despatch email)

Acornantics · 05/10/2017 09:11

We bought an all natural 'tempur' style one in the US. Cost a fortune but DH had disc issues in the past and needed something supportive, so we splurged. It's absolutely gorgeous and without the off-gassing issues that memory foam ones potentially have.

It's travelled back to the UK with us and i dont see the need to change it any time soon.

It is very heavy and hard to move, and we need deeper fitted sheets but those are the only downsides.

ddrmum · 05/10/2017 09:14

I have a hypnos mattress - sooooo comfy! Only problem with it is keeping the small folk out of the bed Grin

frieda909 · 05/10/2017 09:20

We have a Simba and I now love it, but it did take some getting used to. If you get one then make sure you have a good mattress protector and sheets to put on it, as I found that made all the difference (probably true of any mattress, to be fair!) We splurged and got some cotton ones from the White Company (their cheapest range which is still Not Cheap) and I've slept amazingly ever since. Before getting those I was all ready to send the Simba back, though.

My partner has just bought us a couple of the new Simba pillows too and I must say they're excellent. You can take out some of the filling to make them as firm or soft as you like, which is brilliant as I like to really sink into my pillow, whereas I'm convinced he would sleep on a pile of bricks if he could.

notarehearsal · 05/10/2017 09:21

Eve here too

MrTrebus · 05/10/2017 09:24

Thank you @CollieBobs

Babymamamama · 05/10/2017 09:27

I bought dd a Hypnos mattress when she came out of her child bed. Occasionally I sleep in there when she's unwell and sharing with daddy. It's so comfy. Medium firmness which is actually really nice to sleep on.

MuffinMad · 05/10/2017 09:42

I got an Eve mattress with a Living Social voucher. They had ‘rejuvenated’ mattresses, which were mattresses that had been sent out under the trial period and people had returned.
Eve renew the cover and box it up again.
If you’re not happy with it, the trial period remains the same.
I paid £279 (I think) for a KS. A lot less than the original price.
I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out as,I must admit, didn’t really fancy a second hand mattress. But it was fine. Like new.

The only thing was the slow delivery as the offer was very popular. Eve sent me a £30 voucher because of the wait. (3 weeks). So I ordered 2 Eve pillows!

So far, I am very happy with it.
Grin

Acornantics · 05/10/2017 11:20

Also we have a wool duvet from Dunelm which is absolutely brilliant at helping me stay cool at night. It's light, so comfy and encased in gorgeous soft crisp cotton. Would highly recommend, never slept better.

Autumnchill · 05/10/2017 11:33

Ordered my Eve mattress this morning and used the £100 off code kindly sent to me plus went through Quidco and got 11% off which has been tracked 😊 delivery Monday

screwsloose · 05/10/2017 15:26

These are amazing recommendations thank you so much!

screwsloose · 05/10/2017 15:28

@MuffinMad that’s a fantastic price! I think the idea of it being ‘used’ is a bit icky but if it has a new cover then I guess it’s practically new!

Tempur sensation...I LOVE it.
I have always had a bad back and last year was diagnosed with arthritis. Was waking up three times a night in pain and having to change position but not waking up at all with this mattress.
