To tell them they're all deluded? ( slightly lighthearted)

So DS (10yo) joined a sports team a while back and as a result I was added to a what's app group. Every weekend there are endless streams of messages with the results of matches and many congratulations all round. Nothing wrong with that.
Today DH took DS to his first tournament and they won all their matches so again I got all the 'well done team', 'awesome coaches' messages. However DH phoned on the way home (about an hour ago) to say their team had subsequently been disqualified and so didn't win the tournament - but as yet this hasn't been mentioned on the what's app group. Everyone still seems delighted with themselves. WIBU if I posted a message to say ' hang on a second weren't they disqualified?' Or should I just let them be in their delusional fantasy land that I don't actually care about.

How odd. People are probably scared to be "that person" and mention it, especially if someone responsible for the disqualification is part of the group.

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 17:51

Now they've asked if anyone has a photo for the local paperShock

CherieBabySpliffUp · 30/09/2017 17:54

Were they all at the match? Could there be some confusion?

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 17:56

You might be right hummus. I'm new to this sport and don't know any of the parents - so am just a bit baffled.

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 18:00

Cherie some parents were there and some are from other age groups. Certainly none of the parents who posted about winning have since corrected it so maybe people commenting don't know the outcome. Except somebody should really have told the head coach who wasn't there but has posted his congratulations in the last few minutes

But technically they did win Wink. Maybe allow the fantasy to continue.

RebornSlippy · 30/09/2017 18:04

Absolutely, you are the perfect person to get in there first and piss on their chips. Then you should leave the group that you show such disdain towards yet claim to care so little about.

Allthebestnamesareused · 30/09/2017 18:04

What has an under 10s team done that means after winning all their matches they were disqualified? Just wondered - unless the tournament was for u9s??

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 18:21

Allthebest They did actually have two players overage so we're disqualified.
Reborn I did put lighthearted in the title Hmm
It's just so tempting to drop it in there and then see what anyone says.

OP posts:
Allthebestnamesareused · 30/09/2017 18:24

Oops but surely your team knew the aged of the players. I think I would pop in a post saying Just hesrd we've been disqualified for fielding 2 ineligible players. Never mind but well played everyone anyway.

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 18:33

Allthebest I can't understand why the coach didn't know. Although the DF of one of the players did know his DC was too old and said to DH that as his DS was an August birthday he should be allowed to play down in U10's or else he'd be playing in the U12's.
Not sure I'm brave enough to post that message though. If I knew the other parents I might.

OP posts:
Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 18:35
  • The other DF said that as a response to being disqualified - not beforehand. Just wanted to make it clear that DH wasn't complicit in cheating at children's sport Grin
OP posts:
Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 18:48

Ok. Now I definitely can't say anything - the DF of the overage child has just posted photos as requested for the local newspaper. Is it just me???

OP posts:
Allthebestnamesareused · 30/09/2017 18:52

No - now you definitely have to say we need to hang fire on sending the pic to the paper as I think we've been disqualified for fielding ineligible players and we're going to look daft if its all over the local paper as someone on the new winning team is likely to say something!

Allthebestnamesareused · 30/09/2017 18:54

Is it football? There are rules surrounding posting results for the younger age groups anyway.

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 19:01

It's basketball. We're new to it as I said so know nothing about it really

OP posts:
SparklyUnicornPoo · 30/09/2017 19:14

maybe ask as a question, so like 'what actually happened? DH said something about being disqualified?!' just do it quick before it gets to the papers as the new winning team would definitely have something to say about that

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 30/09/2017 19:39

The tournament wasn't local and the winning team are over an hour away so would be unlikely to see any match reports.
Sorry to drip feed but another complicating factor in saying anything on the what's app group is that the coach is a pe teacher at DC's school.

tatasa · 30/09/2017 21:11

Can't you whats.App coach privately, and tell him what you heard?
