...considering I live in SE England, nowhere near the tropics, it will be October, and the highest temperature is predicted as 18 degrees. What is Accuweather playing at?

The tail end of hurricane maria is on track to hit UK and Ireland. Normally the weather systems have weakened by the time they have crossed the Atlantic. If you want to know how bad it can get, look up hurricane Charlie from 25 years ago. That was a horrid night.

Oh I have no doubt that it might be a rainstorm, hurricane etc, but how can it possibly be tropical unless we have suddenly shifted much further south without us noticing? The tropic of cancer runs through Mexico, North Africa, India etc. I predict an altogether more British thunderstorm!

Accuweather say the same for me (London) but BBC has a far much more cheery forecast.
