No way

We fancy a city break at the beginning of Nov. Stansted is out nearest major airport but I won't even consider Ryan Air because the likelihood of them buggering up my 4 days away is far too high.

DavidsGoblinKing · 30/09/2017 10:07

Nope. Even if they do bother to fly you out, they still might not fly you home again. A friend of mine is away just now and doesn't know if she's going to be able to get home again.

yawning801 · 30/09/2017 10:08

It depends if you actually want to get there and back. Personally I wouldn't, but there you go.

BishopBrennansArse · 30/09/2017 10:09

Hahahahahaaaa 😂😂😂😂
No.

Cruciatus · 30/09/2017 10:10

Ryanair is a good example of getting what you pay for.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 30/09/2017 10:11

No wouldn't take risk. Wouldn't fly with them until someone buys company for £1 and rebrands it as see that's the way it's going.

TheNaze73 · 30/09/2017 10:13

Exactly this

RonSwansonsMoustache · 30/09/2017 10:14

It depends whether you want to actually go on your holiday or not!

Clickncollect · 30/09/2017 10:16

My DH is Irish so we have used Ryanair many many times over the years - we never had a problem with them as long as you stick to 'the rules'. However, we switched to Cityjet a few years ago as London City Airport is more convenient for us but I was still a Ryanair fan and fairly vocal about it.

I would NOT touch Ryanair with a barge pole after their latest escapades - I just cannot do business with a company who treat their customers with such contempt and appear such a shambles. I'll take my hard earned coin elsewhere thanks.

TheFuckitBuckit · 30/09/2017 10:17

No I wouldn't, we booked flights on Sunday to get ds home from uni in Scotland at Christmas. Got an email Tuesday, Ryanair have cancelled all flights in and out of Glasgow and Edinburgh until February or March!

So there's no guarantee that flights being sold now will not be cancelled. We've had to rebook with easyJet instead.

divadee · 30/09/2017 10:17

I think it's unreasonable to ever fly Ryanair. I hate the attitude of the company so have always kept away.

Outlookmainlyfair · 30/09/2017 10:17

Avoid!

SusanTheGentle · 30/09/2017 10:22

Ryanair have always treated their customers with contempt, this whole mess is just a demonstration of that and indicates that they've been treating their staff like shit too (there's more to this than just a mistake over holidays, there's a lot of upset among their employees).

You pay peanuts, you get stuck in Malaga for six weeks, basically.

Namemysonplease123 · 30/09/2017 10:25

I've heard today taht if they cancel your flight legally they have to place you on another flight that's convineinet for you with another carrier. So surely this means if say I booked a flight with Ryanair for £50 on Tuesday, they cancel it, they place me on another flight at the same time with say BA that would've cost £300 that you're not really going to miss out? Not giving advise to do that, this is more of a question as others will know more than me!

ilovesooty · 30/09/2017 10:27

They have stated that there will be further roster related cancellations after their announcement on 27th of routes that have been withdrawn.

How selective about airlines you can be rather depends on where you live and where you're trying to fly to.

ilovesooty · 30/09/2017 10:28

Sorry no further roster related cancellations.

onalongsabbatical · 30/09/2017 10:29

I wouldn't. I think they're probably finished, to be honest. Down the tubes.

RonSwansonsMoustache · 30/09/2017 10:31

Well, only if the other carrier has spare seats, surely? You’re not going to just be able to get on a BA flight worth £300 ‘cause your RyanAir flight was cancelled Grin

SquareWord · 30/09/2017 10:32

Yes, YABU. I frequently fly with them but never will again. I would rather pay more and give my money to a company that treats its customers decently rather than a shoddy one run by people without a clue.

AlternativeTentacle · 30/09/2017 10:34

I won't be booking with them ever again after all this. To be fair I avoided them anyway.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 30/09/2017 10:35

Name yes they have to try and get you an alternative flight but if they are trying to place 250 displaced passengers from one flight do you think an alternative carrier is going to have 250 spare seats? Plus I suspect that many sensible people won't be booking with Ryan Air for the foreseeable future so its rivals are probably already seeing a surge in bookings.

Butterymuffin · 30/09/2017 10:37

I don't understand why they haven't just come to an agreement about rolling staff leave over, or something that would avoid all the cancellations. Happy to hear an explanation from any

Butterymuffin · 30/09/2017 10:38

Happy to have it explained by anyone who knows the reasons. But this seems like business suicide.

villamariavintrapp · 30/09/2017 10:39

We've had much worse service from BA this year than we've had from Ryanair. (And I'll never book BA again). But the recent cancellations would put me off right now.

glitterlips1 · 30/09/2017 10:39

No. Wouldn't want the risk of a cancellation. Don't like the way they treat their customers and I don't like what I'm hearing about how they treat their staff.
