To think I could pack my family up and move to Spain?

I've always wanted to live in Spain. No family connections- just love the country. AIBU to think it would be easy to just pack my family up and go? We could learn Spanish as we go couldn't we? I could find a job? We don't own a house here so would just rent over there? I'm dreaming aren't I? It would really mess the DC education up wouldn't it??

This has nothing to do with the weather changing, has it? Grin

How could you work without speaking Spanish?

Do you have enough money for six months' rent and living expenses, as well as removal costs?

Brokenbiscuit · 29/09/2017 20:09

With Brexit on the horizon, I wouldn't tbh. Too many uncertainties about the future.

I don't know...how would you be paying fir the house you rent in Spain?
I've always seen myself living in New York, I could just sell my house and buy an apartment in NY and hope I get a a similarly job to what I do now, couldn't I?

I share your love of Spain, however unemployment is insane and the country is awash with bright native graduates not only naturally fluent in their own language, but often proficient in English. Your chances of getting any job are slim. Your chances of getting a job with prospects almost nil. Those who make it, usually go with capital and record in business and a business model. Or they go under the wing of an existing employer like BP.
Sorry to piss on your paella.

You sound very, very naive.

Jobs are scarce. However if you own a house in the UK you could sell it and have enough to buy a cheap house in Spain and live off the extra money for a few years.

It's a lovely dream. I daydream of going to live in Italy.

I could find a job? well, you can always give it a try. If you're highly specialised in some sough after trade that requires only English, that's a possibility.
