I've just eaten an out of date cucumber. Does it matter?

Just made a tuna sandwich and got the cucumber out of the fridge to use. When I squashed it loads of green sludge slimed out from it but I'm feeling meloncollie today and couldn't be arsed so cut it half way down where it was still firm enough to cut and ate it. It was still soft and a bit slimey though and now I have a bit of belly ache and feel a toilet explosion coming on.

Have I given myself food poisoning or will I be ok?

Well I do this all the time, but only if I can cut to where it is clearly still firm and un-slimey.

If you ate some that WAS soft/slimely you are unlikely to get full blown food poisoning I think but it was maybe a bit unwise!

Cucumber doesn't need a date on. If it's firm it's fine, if its squishy or slimy it needs binning. If part of it is squishy, cut that off and eat the rest.

you will find out if is was ok to do this shortly - or not

Cucumbers don't grow with use by dates stamped on them. So long as it's pleasant to eat and you've washed the outside, you should be fine.
