To think we can't call our cat "William - known as Billy"?

Grin the kids seem to think it's a great name... Surely Billy is fine? Apparently we are going to register him as William at the vet Shock

Have a friend with a dog called Charles Richmond. His full name is only used if he's in trouble - the rest of the time he's Charlie.

Imaystillbedrunk · 27/09/2017 16:51

You need a full name on the of chance he gets knighted. Sir William sounds more noble that Sir Billy imho

15MinutesWithYou · 27/09/2017 16:52

This is very identifying but fuck it. I have a cat named Hans, but his full name is Super Hans a la Peep Show. We never call him Super Hans unless we are at the vets or he has been naughty.

PerfectPenquins · 27/09/2017 16:53

I cringe every time I have to say our youngest dogs name to insurers or the vets, saying you've called about Princess Charlotte Sparkles (named two years before the actual Princess came along) is just sad lol thanks kids!

Winteriscomingneedmorewood · 27/09/2017 16:53

Our ddog has her dm name as a mn!!
Our Lurcher is Nelanie Bonebag but gets Nell.

Lovemusic33 · 27/09/2017 16:54

We had a cat called 'Kevin' when I was a kid, we called him 'Kev' for short.

13bastards · 27/09/2017 16:55

I never changed my oldest cats name at the vests- he has my maiden name whereas my two girls gave my married name.

My vets do the full name thing, poor DCat1 having a different name to the rest 😿😿

cakesandphotos · 27/09/2017 16:55

One of ours is Brian. Mainly due to a gender mix up when he was tiny. DH insists his full name is Brian Lee but he’s wrong

abbsisspartacus · 27/09/2017 16:56

We had a bob the vet called him Robert 😂

13bastards · 27/09/2017 16:57

@15MinutesWithYou I salute you. I've been trying to squeeze a PeepShow cat name in but DH isn't having any of it.

Eliza9917 · 27/09/2017 16:57

We have a dog called Bill/Billy.

Also knew of a dog called Sid.

Hockneypool · 27/09/2017 16:58

My childhood cat was called William. He was a pretty hopeless cat but I luffed him.

viques · 27/09/2017 16:58

I know someone who called their cat Maud. just so they could stand in the garden and call/sing "come into the garden Maud"

strongasmeringue · 27/09/2017 16:59

I feel so rubbish that I've let my animals down Sad. All five of my pets just have normal names and not a middle name in sight never mind a title Sad. Our cats are rescue and were named by the RSPCA, we renamed the rescue guinea pigs as their given names were ridiculous but the dog does have a fancy pants name for her registration. Day to day, just a regular doggy name.

plans on new pet to join in with fancy nameGrin

GBroGal · 27/09/2017 16:59

They're being sensible giving him his full name. What if he wants to be a High Court judge when he grows up?
But if ends up in the dock instead of on the bench, will he be known as Billy the Kit?

strangestdirection · 27/09/2017 17:02

13Bastards we had a Pedge too but he's now in the Rotterdam House Boat in the sky Grin

Your username has now inspired me to go and do a name change to Curse These Metal Hands or All the Whores of Malta.

Scotstar · 27/09/2017 17:02

Both my cats have human names and human middle names. Both a bit porn star ish but they are suited!

IHeartDodo · 27/09/2017 17:03

My mum and sister called one of our guinea pig babies Fifi Trixabelle... Another one was called Obesanjo (after the Nigerian president)!
Thankfully the people who adopted them gave them slightly more sensible names!

user1467976192 · 27/09/2017 17:04

Why not I have a cat called Georgie, my boyfriend decided that's not grand enough for him so changed it to Giovanni, we are not Italian

soupforbrains · 27/09/2017 17:04

Totally fine,

We have cats named Toots, Cleo and Neffy....

Except for when we're at the vets then they get called Tutankatmun, Cleocatra and Neferkitti (my son loves puns and the ancient egyptians)

user1467976192 · 27/09/2017 17:05

Also know of a cat that was called lily chavage. I really liked that

GherkinSnatch · 27/09/2017 17:05

DC are definitely being sensible. How else will he know when he's properly in trouble?

My cat has her name and her Sunday name Grin

13bastards · 27/09/2017 17:05

@strangestdirection I'm afraid curse these metal hands is gone...I tried!

Jaxhog · 27/09/2017 17:06

One of mine is called Mr Spock. Picture me standing on our deck shouting 'Mr Spock, it's dinner time'.

Tighnabruaich · 27/09/2017 17:06

I knew a cat called Colin Parker. He was always referred to by both names, and when they spoke to him they'd say 'Colin Parker do you want some dinner?' or 'Colin Parker, did you bring that bird in?'
