Would you consider it a compliment or a criticism?

Context (a guy I was dating and I can't remember what I had said).

OP seems like the "ooh, I call a spade a spade, say what I think, me" and takes pride in it type.

In the UK its often a criticism of women whilst being praise for men.

context is everything - For me it means straight talking, upfront but not necessary bad. If my boss said t to me I'd take it as a compliment. Don't know what I would think if a date said it tho'

I think he was actually being very diplomatic, going by your responses OP. I'd have just called you rude.

Im amazed at people thinking it means you are straight talking. Never mind that its a compliment.

Why do people think it means straight talking? It doesn't. It means the you act immediately in reaction to something without thinking it through. I don't think it's a good thing at all.
