To think this is fucking inappropriate

There was a murder in our village a few days ago, shocking and sad police/fi crews etc been around the past few days.
On Facebook tonight I see a post from someone I know, a picture of her kids tearing about with police caps on pulling stupid faces at the side of one of the police cars that is parked at the house/street where the murder happened, and the post was something along the lines of "it's sad but life goes on"
Aibu in thinking this is in poor taste?

OP posts:
reallythoughjeff · 27/09/2017 00:57

"Twatting" about not tearing

OP posts:

YANBU Sad

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/09/2017 01:02

That's grim. So disrespectful.

Userlavender · 27/09/2017 01:04

No yanbu - im surprised this is even a genuine 'Aibu'. Very obviously it is disgusting - except to the person who posted the video obviously . Someone should tell her - presumably not helpful if victim's family etc see it.

BastardGoDarkly · 27/09/2017 01:20

I'd have to comment.

Life doesn't go on for that poor person, and it will never be the same again for their family, show some bloody respect.

Is this a friend of yours?

PerspicaciaTick · 27/09/2017 01:24

Had the police lent the children the hats, perhaps aware that their continuing presence could be intimidating and worrying so trying to build relationships...or had the children nicked them to muck about with (not on at all)?

The mother's comment was the most inappropriate thing - it is one thing to say "Met some kind police officers today - great role models for the kids" and quite another to come up with the awful "Life goes on" comment.

MrsOverTheRoad · 27/09/2017 01:31

I agree with Perpsicle. Police officers try very hard to be friendly to children so they're not scared of them. The Mother's comment was awful...that's all.

Italiangreyhound · 27/09/2017 01:42

That's awful. Sad

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/09/2017 01:53

YANBU. Life may go on for that heartless bitch, but. It most certainly does not for the victim or the family.

SparklyMagpie · 27/09/2017 01:54

I couldn't bite my tongue with this an would have to comment telling them. Whether a friend or not I'd be deleting them over such a horrid comment

Actually, the more I think about it, I'd be telling her! How vile!

I get police not wanting to scare children an if this was a case of police officers letting the kids wear their hats, I wouldn't be putting their photos on social media.

How she can't realise she's come across as a massive dick!

That poor victim and their family Sad

SparklyMagpie · 27/09/2017 01:56

Oh and you know yanbu

I hope you give them a mouthful OP!

SparklyMagpie · 27/09/2017 01:58

Has anyone else made any comments to let her know how twattish that was? I hope to god she's not had lots of love hearts on the post and comments telling her hke sweet it is Hmm

JWrecks · 27/09/2017 02:39

Oh that is really grim. I imagine the poor kids don't actually know what's happened and think they're just having a laugh with the police? I can see not telling children about that.

But there is NO EXCUSE for mum allowing that, then taking photos, THEN posting them publicly, THEN making a nasty flippant comment! Poor kids will probably be mortified when they're old enough to understand.

Ploppie4 · 27/09/2017 03:40

More info needed. Were they wearing police hats from the scene?

CamperVamp · 27/09/2017 04:40

The obsessive, mindless, self absorption of those who live their lives out in Facebook.

DinnaeKnowShitFromClay · 27/09/2017 06:29

Yep that's pretty low life behaviour OP. I don't understand the world any more but I'm old.

PlatformNineAndThreeQuarters · 27/09/2017 06:46

Why is more info needed, how is posting a comment like that not bad enough or self explanatory, never mind the hats

ShowMePotatoSalad · 27/09/2017 06:54

So many reasons I dislike oversharing on social media, but that is just crass. You wonder how hollow some people's lives are that they have to constantly play up for photos and then post them so everyone can see. It's like some people can't stand anyone or anything else to get attention but themselves. I would mute that fool if you haven't already, or just de-friend.

JonSnowsWife · 27/09/2017 07:00

YNBU.

SerfTerf · 27/09/2017 07:01

Oh god. I'm cringing for her and I don't even know her.

FenceSitter01 · 27/09/2017 07:01

How old are her children?

Fortunately, never having been in the position of having my mother murdered, I don't know how I'd react with light relief.

How would you react OP?

SerfTerf · 27/09/2017 07:04

fence it isn't the DC of the murder victim who are clowning around.

JeanSeberg · 27/09/2017 07:05

Where did it say it was a mother that had been murdered?

SerfTerf · 27/09/2017 07:06

It didn't.

Kailoer · 27/09/2017 07:53

Why would anyone post that?
It's revolting behaviour.
