To Ask How Long it Takes you to get Ready in Mornings?

I wake up at 7:00 and need to be out of the house by 8, which gives me an hour, quite a long time? Without adding anything else, it takes me nearly ten minutes to heave myself out of, a further twenty for breakfast, twenty minutes in the bathroom to go to the toilet, clean teeth etc and then another ten minutes to get dressed, so I always end up applying any makeup in the car as well as brushing my hair. Am I just ridiculously slow or do others have this struggle too? Confused

For everyone who gets up at 5/6am what time do you go to sleep?

LazyDailyMailJournos · 25/09/2017 20:41

I'm normally in bed between 10-10:30.

Changerofname987654321 · 25/09/2017 20:43

I never wash hair in the morning. I have an hour to shower, dress make up and get toddler dressed and give her pre nursery breakfast.

It used to take me ages. You adapt to the time you have.

Parmaviolets13 · 25/09/2017 20:47

Alarm at 7.15, up at 7.30, ready by about 7.55, make lunch and go.

Not a morning person. Hate breakfast. And shower in the evenings although I'm sure some people will find that disgusting Grin

Ps4widow · 25/09/2017 20:54

Up at 4 with dh as both don't sleep long he leaves at 6 and I get the kids up. We leave at 8 for school

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 25/09/2017 20:58

Up at 6:30, showered, dressed, makeup, hair, two kids sorted. Includes 20 mins for coffee and a bit of news. Kids eat at the childminders. Out the door by 7:30.

Change the order you do things, it can shave a lot of time off.

BuzzKillington · 25/09/2017 21:00

45 mins. Up at 6.45, shower, brush teeth. Make up, get dressed. No breakfast. Cursory glance at offspring who dh sorts.

If I wash my (masses of) hair, it takes me 15 mins longer.

Don't have set hours at work but like to leave by 7.30 to miss the traffic.

Wispygypsy · 25/09/2017 21:23

I am in awe of most people who have posted already. I aspire to be like you ladies! I need to get organised. Next week I will!

Alarm starts at 6.15 then snoozes every 5 mins until I drag myself up at 6.40. Showered previous night so just have to wash face, do teeth and basic make up while listening to toddler wake up on monitor. Dh usually then brings toddler in at 7ish, quick breastfeed in bed while dh checks work phone (suspect actually bbc sport). Try to keep toddler entertained with books while rummaging through huge pile of clean washing on bedroom floor (waiting to be put away) to find pants. No socks to be seen so wander off to spare room to look over 3 more clothes horses. Get dressed for work, go downstairs at 7.30ish. Dh does toddler's nappy while I dress. Hurried bowl of cereal for toddler and I while dh showers. Quickly change toddler, fill water bottle then aim to leave by 7.55. Is usually after 8. Nursery drop off at 8.12ish then off to work for 8.30.

What time do you to bed if you are up before 6?! I hate getting up early. I know it would benefit me but I'm so tired!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 25/09/2017 22:00

8am: alarm goes off, I ignore it and fall asleep again.
8.37: I wake up and jump out of bed, go to toilet, weigh self
8.42: shower
8:50: throw clothes on
8:52: leave house
9:02am: arrive at work and eat yoghurt and apply make-up if can be arsed

I have no DCs. Grin

user1495490253 · 25/09/2017 22:13

You're really slow. Grin I'm up at 8, do my hair, makeup, teeth, get dressed, organise eldest getting dressed and brushing teeth, get the toddler dressed and change nappy, sort them out with drinks, sometimes bits like homework with the eldest, out of the house by 8.45. Though DH does sort the toddler's breakfast which helps!

Sofabitch · 25/09/2017 22:18

Just me... 30 mins. But in reality I leave an hour to get me and DC ready. So awake at 6.30am leave at 7.30am

I go to bed nowish.

Always have spare time though. But means i can stick washing or dishwasher on.

I don't wear make up.

MrsJBaptiste · 25/09/2017 22:19

If I'm going to the gym, I can be ready in 25 mins - up at 6am and out before 6.30.

If it's a work day and I have to sort out the kids, I'm up at 7am and we leave at 8.45. I don't sit around but just hate rushing in the morning.

Getout I go to be at 11.30 whether I'm up at 6am or 7am

greatbigwho · 25/09/2017 22:24

Up at 7, almost 4yo up at the same time, hands and face washed, teeth cleaned and dressed by 10 past, I then hop in the shower, wash hair etc, get out and get dressed and we’re out the door for 7.35. Breakfast is either at preschool or when we get home from the station run.

OhTheRoses · 25/09/2017 22:27

It takes me about 35 minutes to shower, dress, teeth. But before that I have a big hug with DH, put washer on, feed cat, unload dishwasher, make tea take it back to bed. Drink tea, chose clothes. Leave at around 7.35. Routine starts at 5.50.

Tealdeal747 · 25/09/2017 22:28

Alarm 8.
Tea 8.15
Up & dress 8.30
Leave 8.45
Eat and hair/make up in car.

mimilightyear · 25/09/2017 22:29

You have 50 minutes that has to take into account a 20 minute breakfast and 20 minutes in the bathroom - that is never going to give you enough time to do your make up & hair?

Something in your routine will have to give or else you need to get up earlier OP! Or just keep doing what you're doing if you don't want to make any changes...

FlandersRocks · 25/09/2017 22:30

It depends on where I'm going.

Just the school run/shop/park...takes me 10 minutes. Quick shower (3 mins max), brush teeth, towel dry hair and leave it down, dress.

For work/lunch/town shopping...30 minutes. Difference being I'll dry my hair and run a straightener over it and put a bit of make up on.

For a party/night out/event...an hour. As above but I spend longer straightening my hair and put more make up on.

LouLouLove · 25/09/2017 22:33

1 - 1.15 hour(s) start to finish includes

  • toilet, shower, brush teeth
  • downstairs to make breakfast for myself and DS
  • back upstairs to get dressed, dry and straighten hair + make up

alarm goes off 6.45, usually out of bed by 7.15 (!) and out the door 8.30.

Thegiantofillinois · 25/09/2017 22:33

Asleep by 11.don't finish s h working until 930ish so need wind down time.
Up at 6 ish. Shower and makeup/ hair done by 7. Breakfast/ dc hair. Out 730.

Knackered by Friday.

FlandersRocks · 25/09/2017 22:34

But before that I have a big hug with DH, put washer on

A big hug?

SparkyTheCat · 25/09/2017 22:36

30 mins to come round, 30 bed to door, more if DH away and DCat requires feeding and meds. I am not a morning person. Colleagues are advised to approach with caution before 10am or first coffee, whichever occurs first.

ilovepixie · 25/09/2017 22:41

Alarm goes off at 8.25. Get up wash and dress. Out the door by 8.33. I have a shower or bath the night before. I have my clothes and stuff sitting ready so there is no faffing around in the morning.

JennyLane · 25/09/2017 22:44

I get up whenever the first kid gets up. So anywhere between 3am and 7am.
If it's been a 3am start (usually the baby) I'll Potter once she's settled back in bed, empty the dishwasher. Load laundry, prep tea etc and then have a doze on the sofa till the next kid wakes.
My actual prep to leave the house is ten minutes. I shower at night so I'm up, brush my teeth, wash my face, slap some tinted moisturiser, blusher and mascara on and throw on whatever. I'm a housewife though so I only need to be semi presentable on the school run

Getout21 · 25/09/2017 22:47

I can't ever seem to get to bed before 11.30 even though i'm on mat leave. Clearly I'm a massive time waster!

At the moment I tend to wake up around 7.30 to kick DH out of bed to make bottle. We don't get officially out of bed before 8, then breakfast for baby & 3 yr old. Get them dressed & out the door for approx 8.45 to drop 3 yr old at preschool. Can do it in 20 mins though, but preschool is only 100 metres walk. I don't blow dry my hair or wear make up so I'm ready to go pretty quickly. When working i'm still very quick as wear minimal make up & still don't blow dry. Plus I've never had to dress like a professional at work so no ironing & can wear whatever I want. The last time I prepped my outfit the night before was probably a mufty day.

Feel inspired to get organised though!
