to think this chap doesn't own the road outside his house and wrapping cars in cling film is ridiculous?

A chap in Liverpool is wrapping cars in cling film if they park outside his house for longer than he considers necessary.

www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/man-fed-up-people-parking-13663392

He lives near Liverpool Airport and people are parking in nearby estates, getting a taxi to the airport and saving on fees. Yes it's probably annoying (I used to live next to a very busy commuter station and our road was often rammed with cars from 7-7, so I understand an element of frustration) but what in the heck is it with people losing their mind if someone parks outside their house? It's a public road!

"Neil complained he can no longer park his own car outside of his house because of the Skoda."

He said: “I thought it was cheeky leaving the car there so thought I’d leave them a nice surprise for when they got back.

“I work at Costco so I went and bought a big roll of cling-film from there.”

The police even came to check it out and said they can't move the car because it is legally parked.
Why do people think they own the slither of road outside their house?

Where I live, there are only a small number of houses with drives or garages, it's generally a busy street and some times you don't get to park outside your house or even on your street. Yes it's inconvenient but it doesn't matter, it generally works out that about 75% of the time you get to park in a continent spot for you and everyone else. Most people on our street don't care however a few are out in the street watching you park if you dare to even pull in near their house.

Only today one of our visitors parked outside the house of the man 2 doors down. She had no sooner started to reverse the car into the space and he was out watching her.

He is a twat. If he wants allocated parking he should pay for it

In the same vein; if people want to drive to the airport and leave their car whilst they go on holiday, they should pay to park at the airport

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/09/2017 18:49

If someone has enough money to go on a holiday then they might as well cough up for parking.

NiktheGreek · 23/09/2017 18:51

You should factor in the cost of parking in your holiday same as we factor in cost of kennels when we go on holiday.

OhThisbloodyComputer · 23/09/2017 18:55

You could always fill the exhaust pipe with pop corn seeds. (Push them right in so they don't fall out)

Put some cooking oil in too.

When the owner of the car drives away, the heat of the exhaust pipe will cook the popcorn to bursting point.

The driver will wonder why there are all these rattling noises coming from the exhaust. And little soot covered snacks shooting out into the road

TheFairyCaravan · 23/09/2017 18:58

Two weeks parking is probably around £50-£100 at least

My car is currently in a secure car park in a hotel at Birmingham airport. It cost me £97 for 12 nights parking and a nights stay because the flight out was at silly o'clock. We wouldn't have dreamed have parking it in a residential street.

For a start it's not a secure place to leave it and you don't know who you are inconveniencing. Just because there's not a disabled space out side the house doesn't mean there's not a disabled person living there, or someone with 3 kids who now has to trek up the road with them and their shopping.

Some people are so rude and selfish.

AtomHeart · 23/09/2017 18:59

The car owner may leave a lot of clingy litter behind as a result of that. Perhaps the man should apply to the Council to get the road designated as residents only.

LakieLady · 23/09/2017 19:03

I provide both for my friends! They leave their car in my road for 2 weeks, I look after their dogs, drive them to the airport and pick them up, and if they've been long-haul, they get B&B as well.

Maybe I should start doing this as a business. It must be worth at least £150-200 a week.

JaneEyre70 · 23/09/2017 19:09

It's unbelievably rude to just dump your car for 2 weeks in someone's road, and I think he's very clever tbh. It's not causing damage but hopefully it will stop the car owner doing it again. People are very thoughtless when it comes to parking.

Dramalady52 · 23/09/2017 19:16

My neighbours son left his car outside my house for three weeks when he went to Oz. He could have left it at home but apparently lives in a dodgy area. I wouldn't have minded, but no one had the courtesy to warn me so I thought it was abandoned! I was on the verge of calling the police and it was only because I asked around that I found out it was his.

KityGlitr · 23/09/2017 19:18

He's a knob and it's not remotely cheeky or unreasonable to park on a public street with no restrictions at any time you wish, whether you live there or not. Screw the people saying it's cheeky to park on a residential street for two weeks instead of paying for parking, you've already paid for the use of public roads with your road tax so you can damn well park wherever you like as long as you're not blocking someone's drive.

People like him really piss me off. Thinks he owns a public street cos it's outside his house. I hope he's done for criminal damage or whatever they can get him for (I know cling film doesn't damage the car, but there must be some law against interfering with someone's property like that).

I used to live on a busy street with no restrictions and frequently would get back from work and not be able to find a space for a few streets near mine. Not once did I blame anyone using a public parking space they were legally entitled to.

Hilat it may be annoying we all pay road tax - well most of us do - and are all entitled to park legally on roads that are unrestricted. The cling film thing is ridiculous. It would make me catch a taxi home and leave it for another two weeks.
If you want private parking move to somewhere with a drive.

Andrewofgg · 23/09/2017 19:24

My sister and BIL travel a lot. If they fly from London they park in my road - I reserve one of the open spots with my car - and I drive them to the airport and then put my car back on our drive. They get to park, and we get a chance for a natter. None of my neighbours has ever complained but if they did I would say, politely but firmly, that it's anyone's spot to park on.

hamburgler · 23/09/2017 19:25

He should face criminal charges.

What if the driver was elderly or disabled or vulnerable in some way, and denying them access to their car meant they were stranded with no way to get home that night? What if it resulted in a baby or young child being stranded?

People park on the road outside my block of flats all the time, it never even occurs to me to notice them, let alone be bothered. Why would it? Such a bizarre idea, that the road that happens to go by your home is in any way anything to do with you.

I appreciate he must be po with ppl parking outside his house but tbh it is childish to do this . I mean it isn't going to take much to get it off. I suppose he is attention seeking as are a lot of ppl these days ....rock on Tommy .........

hamburgler · 23/09/2017 19:34

I had someone scream at me once that we were parked "IN her garden" just for stopping by the side of the road to let someone jump out (in a place where it would have been perfectly legal). I pointed out there was a concrete wall plus a 10ft wide pavement with dozens of people walking up and down between us and her garden, and I didn't see her screaming at them that they were walking in her garden.

SpaghettiAndMeatballs · 23/09/2017 19:34

No, he doesn't own the road but I do thinkparking in a residential street and fucking off on holidays for a couple of weeks is taking the piss.

I don't really - there's been times where my car hasn't moved for two weeks, what's the difference between that and someone else leaving their car there?

Lovemusic33 · 23/09/2017 19:40

I can see why he's annoyed with people leaving their cars outside and going on holiday but his plan has kind of backfired as now millions of people now know that they can also park there after seeing it in the media. There's no law to say they can't.

GemmaCollinsBabes · 23/09/2017 20:06

The car in question had been there for TWO DAYS before he tampered with it.

I recognise some of the cars in my street but I don't know who has visitors, who has a new car to be getting angry enough to call the police about an abanonded car as someone else above suggested.

I've got no sympathy for tight cunts who think they're too speshal to have to pay to use the designated parking for wherever it it they're visiting.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/09/2017 20:23

Oh please. No need for the drama. Someone was just tight, that's all.

VanillaSugar · 23/09/2017 20:28

He looks older than 36.

OddBoots · 23/09/2017 20:32

I live near another airport, it has recently been put in the papers holidaymaker cars having windows smashed by local residents (it wasn't actually the local residents but that is how it was reported). We have just had a local consultation about making the street parking resident only for a fee, I can see that coming in because the number of holiday cars is just so many that there is no space for residents to park even 5 minutes walk away from their homes.

It's one of those things where is a few people do it then it is no major problem but when lots do it then it becomes a real issue.

At least the clingfilm does no lasting harm. Anyone suggesting any kind of tampering with exhaust pipes should be ashamed, that can really be dangerous.

AmIthatbloodycold · 23/09/2017 21:07

I can't believe some of the comments. If there are markings then ANYONE is entitled to leave their car there

If this twat touched my car he would have been picking cling film out of his area for weeks
