Egg mayo sandwich argument

user1483644229 · 23/09/2017 12:36

First world argument...is it ever acceptable to have an egg mayo sandwich made with scrambled egg (plain egg nothing added except for the mayo) or should it be boiled egg? Yes seriously we are debating this....

Boiled only!

MumBod · 23/09/2017 13:37

Boiled egg mushed up with salad cream or mayo.

Bluntness100 · 23/09/2017 13:39

That is disgusting. He scrambled eggs then mixed them with mayo and shoved it in a sandwich? Has he never eaten an egg mayo sandwich before, could he not tell the eggs were not scrambled?

BeautyQueenFromMars · 23/09/2017 13:43

@WorldWideWanderer If you shake the eggs hard enough (Well I saw them being swung around in a clean sock) before boiling, the yolk will break and mix with the white, so you'll have a yellow boiled egg.

Toomanycats99 · 23/09/2017 13:43

Boiled and salad cream.

chickenowner · 23/09/2017 13:49

I have to say egg sandwich with scrambled egg sounds completely revolting!!

InsomniacAnonymous · 23/09/2017 13:52

Coffeetasteslikeshit "Boiled. Salad cream. Gavel."

I can't agree with that. You'd break your teeth on the gavel.

Antoniacaenis · 23/09/2017 13:53

Scrambled is only permissible if served hot, on toast. Possibly with cheese but definitely not with mayo. Eggs must be hard boiled for anything called a egg mayo sandwich, or anything served cold.

SpottedGingham · 23/09/2017 13:55

Egg, mayo and cress. White bread cut from a bloomer. Delicious.

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 23/09/2017 13:56

@BeautyQueenFromMars mayo is disgusting... it makes the sandwich heavy. It’s why I hate prepackaged sandwiches... they’re drowned on mayonnaise

NoParticularPattern · 23/09/2017 13:57

How can it be an egg MAYO sandwich if you use salad cream?!

Boiled egg, mayo, dash of malt vinegar, salt, white pepper. On white bread with plenty of proper butter. Preferably eaten whilst still warm. So there!

NoParticularPattern · 23/09/2017 13:58

Also thanks for making me crave egg mayo sandwiches. Bloody impressionable pregnant appetite!

Katedotness1963 · 23/09/2017 14:01

Boiled egg, S&P, mayonnaise, tiny bit of English mustard.

YoshimiBthePR · 23/09/2017 14:01

Boiled definitely.

"Boiled egg grated"
recklessgran how hard boiled do your eggs have to be to grate them?!

Oldraver · 23/09/2017 14:09

I am so going to try that. OH takes Egg salad cream with chives to work so going to give his eggs a shake

4yoniD · 23/09/2017 14:16

If you use salad cream it isn't egg MAYO, surely?

xotyl · 23/09/2017 14:17

Definitely boiled, who does scrambled egg sandwich? Just plain wrong.
Dollop of good mayo, salt, back pepper and a pinch of Colmans mustard powder. On whole grain bread of course, butter not essential with enough mayo. Cress or avocado if available.

user1483644229 · 23/09/2017 14:38

Thanks all for your thoughts. It is each to their own on these things and some healthy debate here. I think this has helped me out as he thought I was weird for thinking he was weird...but he sees now 🙂 We have chuckled over some of these responses!

@chipscheeseandcurrysauce I feel the same way about salad cream!
The trick to making the perfect egg mayo filling is to use just enough mayonnaise to bind the egg together. No butter or spread or mayo on the bread either, just the bread and the filling, with salt to taste.

mrswishywashy1 · 23/09/2017 15:18

Boiled eggs mixed with a spoonful of butter while still warm, then salt, very fine chopped onion and a good dollop of SALAD CREAM Grin on fresh white bread 👌

Brainwashed · 23/09/2017 15:21

Chopped Boiled egg with mayo with the addition of finely chopped raw onion and tomato and grated cheese....the best sandwich ever!

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 23/09/2017 15:23

I would say boiled, however scrambled egg and tattie scones on a Scottish roll with salt and brown sauce is the food of the gods.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 23/09/2017 15:24

I have just had a tesco egg mayo sandwich

It is bread , 'buttered ' with egg mayo rather than butter and with sloced eggs in the middle

usernameavailable · 23/09/2017 15:27

Egg mayo...nope!
Egg and salad cream sandwich is the way to go!
And boiled egg only!

Goldenbug · 23/09/2017 15:32

I sometimes just microwave the egg until cooked. Then cool it and add mayo. Simple egg mayo sandwich.

You're welcome.
