Egg mayo sandwich argument

user1483644229 · 23/09/2017 12:36

First world argument...is it ever acceptable to have an egg mayo sandwich made with scrambled egg (plain egg nothing added except for the mayo) or should it be boiled egg? Yes seriously we are debating this....

DH and I once had a massive argument about how to make egg sandwiches. He insisted you had to mix the egg with butter/marg, not mayo and that this was how his mum had always made them.

Obviously I won that argument and he now makes them properly - boiled with mayo.

TansyVioletta · 23/09/2017 12:59

Boiled. Scrambled in a breakfast bap with bacon or sausage though

KitKat1985 · 23/09/2017 13:00

Boiled!

Alternatively in Spain they do Spanish omelette baguettes for those who prefer a different take on egg sandwiches.

But yes, it's a no to a scrambled egg sandwich. Scrambled egg should be served on buttered toast only.

Boiled. Salad cream. Gavel.

Giggorata · 23/09/2017 13:05

Good grief, boiled. And mayo.

happypoobum · 23/09/2017 13:06

They are completely different things.

If you want an egg mayo sandwich this is made with mashed up boiled eggs, salt, and either salad cream or mayo.

If you want a scrambled egg sandwich you make it with, erm, scrambled eggs.

This isn't really an argument. It's like saying chilli con carne is the same as spaghetti bolognese because they are both made with minced beef (rinsed of course!) Grin

notsmartenough · 23/09/2017 13:06

Boiled definitely and with mayo not salad cream.
Although years ago (50 or more?) Heinz sold a mayonnaise that was a cross between a salad cream and 'proper' mayo. Sayers sold egg sandwiches made with that - best ever.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/09/2017 13:07

I love scrambled egg, but an egg mayo sandwich should be made with boiled eggs only.

Billben · 23/09/2017 13:12

Not that I would ever eat one, but it should definitely be boiled egg. I like boiled eggs and I like mayo but just couldn't mix the two together as a filling. I could have sliced boiled eggs between two slices of bread with a smearing of mayo though😀 I'm odd, I know

recklessgran · 23/09/2017 13:12

Boiled egg grated and mixed with a tiny spoon of mayo and generous mill of black pepper.

PinkHeart5913 · 23/09/2017 13:13

What kind of animal is using scrambled? Shock

Only Boiled is acceptable for egg mayo

ForagingForFaerieGold · 23/09/2017 13:16

Scrambled egg sandwiches should be eaten with ketchup. Buttered eggs (boiled and mashed up) should be eaten with a spoon out of a mug (toast is extra) egg mayo is made with boiled eggs. This is the order of things and is not to be messed with. !!

Ellie56 · 23/09/2017 13:17

Definitely boiled egg and mayonnaise. DH needs to try harder with the eggs next time but at least he made you lunch.

CaptWentworth · 23/09/2017 13:17

Well....I would say boiled is egg mayo. But nothing wrong with a roll and scrambled egg.

But I'm Scottish, and we put lots of things in rolls.
Roll'n'pie
Roll'n'mince
Roll'n'crisps....etc

Topseyt · 23/09/2017 13:19

Hard boiled egg, well chopped or mashed, with salt, black pepper and a dollop of mayo.

Scrambled egg sandwiches should be a criminal offence.

Oldraver · 23/09/2017 13:19

Boiled as it's a totally different texture to scrambled.

Though years and years ago I used to do scrambled eggs in the microwave but not stir, so they come out flat almost ommellete like but more importantly can be put between two slices of bread and eaten on the way to work and not fall out the sandwich

AdaColeman · 23/09/2017 13:26

Hard boiled, chopped, mixed with mayonnaise.

And they should never ever under absolutely any circumstance at all have CRESS added.

WorldWideWanderer · 23/09/2017 13:30

I have never thought of using scrambled egg! But actually, it's a brilliant idea....because the one thing I hate about egg mayo is that nasty bits of egg white lumps - urgh! Now if it was scrambled, there'd be none of that...I'm going to try it!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/09/2017 13:30

I'm tempted by the scrambled egg one.
With mayo and sundries tomato paste on brown bread.

Polly99 · 23/09/2017 13:31

Boiled, chopped, mayo and a pinch of salt and black pepper, eaten warm.

Haffiana · 23/09/2017 13:31

Ur eg ur rulez, hun.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/09/2017 13:32

But my scrambled eggs are chunky, not the usual consistency people make.

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 23/09/2017 13:33

Boiled with lots of salad cream, tomatoes and chives

Scrambled egg with mayo sarnie?!

Boiled egg ONLY.

Also, why do people keep saying salad cream? It's called egg MAYO. Doing it with salad cream is an abomination. And it has made me retch in the past, when I've been expecting egg mayo and have bitten into egg salad cream.
