To call my friend out on her fake dog love?

My friend bought a puppy last year. Ever since her Facebook has been flooded with photos of said pooch with captions such as "unconditional love" / "me and my best mate" / "could he be any cuter?" Etc etc. It's almost every day.

Yet in person she slags this dog off like mad, says it's thick, untrainable, irritating and annoying and that she'd never get another dog of this breed. Yet the Facebook love continues. It's so fake!

That does sound v annoying. What breed is it?

Ttbb · 20/09/2017 19:48

But why? Yes she's an irritating twat but she is not hurting anyone so why make yourself look bad?

I slag my dog off all the time. Still love him dearly

He is a bit stupid. He's currently standing with his head in the empty washing machine for no reason I can fathom. He's scared of his own farts and rolled in fox shit today

I've also threatened never to get another dog of his breed. He's a Springer, he's better now he's older but dear god the puppy stage was a bloody nightmare.

I love him to bits though, he's my buddy and I wouldn't be without him.

Another one who slags the dog off all the time....he is very very intelligent and an easy train but also quite stupid and very annoying.

I was really very cross with him and saying I would never have another lab two hours before I was sobbing my heart out in the emergency vets because I honestly thought I would lose him. (Ate something he shouldn't have).

He's a paradox.

Sounds like you need to take a facebook break.

My dog is a utter nobber. He barks at everything and nothing. He thinks the CIA are in our privets (can't think why else he would bark at them out the window all day) he shits on the landing if he gets upstairs. I call him a silly fuck nugget all day. I'll never get another dog because he is more work than a child and I tell at least one person a day that I'm going to post him to Battersea... But I love the bones of him and my fb is covered in photos of the dumb little shit. Ahhh. Puppy love.

Come to think of it, it's the same with my kids. Fancy that.

steff13 · 21/09/2017 01:27

I love my dog, but she's also the worst.

Grin @ Nino

I had a friend like this. Photos on fb...telling everyone how much she loved him. All I got was constant moaning about the noise, the digging, the inconvenience etc. She had him rehomed and had dozens of people sending sympathy as she was so upset. In private she was delighted!

I've since realised she's the most fake, two faced person I know, so I've gone very low contract.

ShmooBooMoo · 21/09/2017 01:59

I'd remind her that there's no such thing as a stupid or untrainable dog, but there is such a thing as an idiot who can't be bothered to train a dog or who blames the dog for their own shortcomings! The problem is her, not her dog, the poor thing!

Broken11Girl · 21/09/2017 02:00

It's just something people do. I post adorable cat pics on Fb but moan about the little twat irl all the time. Similarly people post cute pics of that special date with their DP/H neglecting to mention the blazing row earlier, cute child pics leaving out the screaming tantrum an hour before etc. I wouldn't be bothered.
