I'm 45 and out of touch admittedly but I keep seeing teens and early 20s young women, wearing the terrible crystal jewellry that was about in the 90s!

I'm old now aren't I?

If this is "back" then that's it...it's so frigging UGLY!

Back when I was hip and all that, I wore original 60s jewellry...so that's all they're doing isn't it??

Wearing the stuff I wore when I was young! Shock

Just checking...what are your teens and young women dds wearing?

MrsOverTheRoad, I find it pretty straight forward most of the time.

Clothes and shoe sizes are probably a bit of a gamble (no personal experience though) and you need to read item descriptions closely. For example the title may say 'leather' when it's actually PU - although to be fair the same is true for eBay. I also often find the user reviews pretty helpful, especially when they include pictures.

My only niggle would be that most sellers don't accept Paypal, although the one time an item didn't arrive, the seller immediately issued a refund, so I really can't complain.

On the whole I've been very happy with pretty much everything I've bought and the few things I didn't like were easily sold on via eBay. Recently I've bought LED fairy lights, gorgeous laser cut greeting cards and cushions (exact same cushion available on Wayfair for 3x the price), all fab.

I think that some people just love to judge other people , I love my dm but you should hear her watching TV now she's 89 she's awful. She's always said that older women shouldn't look like "mutton dressed as lamb" ( so I suppose I do to an extent) I have to stop myself. Blush

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 18/09/2017 12:14

I even saw a young man in full on new age hippy/raver gear the other day.

You do know for that large groups of people, including myself and my friends, that look never went away, right??

I'm in my 30's, DP in hs 40's and some of our friends are in their 50's and 60's and still wear what they wore in the 80s/90s!
Dreads, hippie trousers, loads of jewellery, bright colours.

And we still go to raves! Shock

And as for the comment about an older woman wearing lots of jewellery....just fuck off.

It is literally no one elses fucking business what anyone else wears or looks like.
No ones forcing you to wear it, so shut it.

I loved the 90s stuff, was very pleased to see velvet chokers back in as well.

ppeatfruit · 18/09/2017 12:15

So are the 90s wide shoulders back too now?! Anyone know?

MrsOverTheRoad · 18/09/2017 12:19

Lemon thanks! If they don't accept PayPal though...then what do they accept? Visa?

WTF is that caddisfly stuff? It looks like a glittery shit.

Floellabumbags · 18/09/2017 12:24

Sisters my tutor makes those kind of rings, they are a feat of engineering and design and life-changing for his clients. If anyone wants his details I'll happily PM them.

IamEarthymama · 18/09/2017 12:33

Here I am in my beige slacks and flowery top from M&S with Hotter shoes, my jewellery is understated, gold hops and a watch.
I have to wear these in case I offend some person on the internet!

Oh no I am not, I am wearing dungaree pinafore and DMs, several silver rings with crystals, amethyst earrings and a wooden pendant that a friend made. My hair is white with a slight lilac tint to my fringe.
How very dare I?

And do you know what! I know several people who do wear the above slacks etc. Do I look down on them? Do I hell, it's their choice. I don't know their medical issues, maybe they need comfortable, easy to put on clothes, maybe they like their look.

None of my business!

expatinscotland · 18/09/2017 12:36

I still have no idea what the OP is talking about. Someone please clarify! I spent the 90s in either suits or variants of suits (worked as a legal secretary and then a paralegal in conservative law firms) or in fleece and nylon hiking and climbing gear. I missed all the 'fashion' and I was in my 20s.

limitedperiodonly · 18/09/2017 12:44

I have lots of jewellery and wear different things every day. My taste tends towards big rather than discreet and I don't like cheap stuff, though I have both for their sentimental value.

I imagine some people don't like it but it wouldn't bother me if someone said that on MN or to my face - though I guess that would be rare. IRL I wouldn't comment on someone's appearance. But this isn't real life so I do.

Well expat this is what my amethyst-on-a-chain was like, I don't know if that's what the OP was thinking of.

MarthaArthur · 18/09/2017 12:56

floella ooh could you pm me please? I might look into them. Thank you!

MaroonPencil · 18/09/2017 12:57

I was also the proud owner of a yin and yang ring, dangly moon earrings with bits hanging off them and a black T-shirt with an embroidered circle on the front with rainbows and dolphins and stuff.

MrsOverTheRoad · 18/09/2017 13:02

Maroon Ooh my moon and star earrings! I bloody LOVED them. They were one of the first things I bought with my wages! Though that was the late 80s really.

I heart the 90s!
I'm still dressing pretty much as I did in college, and I'm ok with that - but if someone could just tell me the cut off age where my thumb rings will become desperate, then thanks in advance Wink

AlpacasPackOwls · 18/09/2017 13:07

This is what I meant.

Found loads of yin yang, moon, stars and suns when looking for that picture! Memories...

MaroonPencil · 18/09/2017 13:09

I had a Saturday job in a craft shop, Mrs, so I had a regular supply Grin

expatinscotland · 18/09/2017 13:11

Oh, I still have a few like that, Maroon! And silver moon and star stud earrings. I have this massive topaz-coloured crystal on a chain. I can't remember when and where I bought it (I also spent a lot of the 90s smoking lots of hash and grass Wink). I saw loads of tassel jewellery in the States this Summer. I love it!

RhiannonOHara · 18/09/2017 13:41

These are the kind I was thinking of, that I used to wear.

OlennasWimple · 18/09/2017 13:49

i used to love my amethyst on a chain....

SistersOfPercy · 18/09/2017 13:54

@MarthaArthur @Floellabumbags

They are lifechanging. I love mine. I use a lady on Facebook called 'ring splints by zomile'. She custom makes decorative ones and can put stones and engraving on them. The difference mine makes to just my thumb is amazing.

I have eclectic taste in jewellery anyway, DH bought me a beautiful Tiffany necklace which is probably my favourite, but I also wear crystals, mammoth ivory, lots of Tarina Tarantino stuff and a Ouji board planchette quite regularly.

MarthaArthur · 18/09/2017 14:29

Thanks sisters i just looked that up on fb x

FairNotFair · 18/09/2017 16:06

Ah, those crystal-in-a-cage necklaces. How I loved mine.

I also wore runic necklaces. And a lot of ankhs.

The 90s were my favourite

expatinscotland · 18/09/2017 16:12

I wear all sorts, too! Bead necklaces from my grandmother, strands of multi-coloured pearls, silver charms, cheap plastic beads from the Caribbean, gold chains with lockets or a diamond heart, strands of clear glass bead necklaces. Variety makes my world go round! I even have my twista-bead necklaces from the 80s I still wear from time to time.
