To really respect Vince Cable?

Full disclosure - I'm a Lib Dem supporter.

The 2010 election was the first one I could legally vote in, and I went for the Lib Dems. I liked (and still like) Nick Clegg, but lost some respect for him after going into the coalition with the Conservatives.

I also liked what Tim Farron had to say as Lib Dem leader, but I'm particularly impressed with Vince Cable. He's given a couple of interviews so far since being elected as Lib Dem leader, and I think he's taking a very sensible and effective approach to leading the party.

I'm quietly hopeful for the Lib Dems now!

I used to regard him as the least awful of the Lib Dems, ie reasonably intelligent and thoughtful. But the fact that he sold off the Royal Mail cheaply was a massive disappointment. Along with the fact that, of course, he happily worked alongside the Tories in government for five years.

I very much like Vince. But he isn't perfect, and I don't agree about having a second referendum. I didn't want the first one.

Did anyone hear him on Today this morning? He made an embarrassing gaffe where he thought he was being asked whether he could be PM and he replied 'I think I could be...' and that wasn't the question! He is so arrogant and I think is the only Lib Dem MP I have ever really disliked (at least until Farron's mealy-mouthed answers to the sexuality questions last year!)
