Don't know what to do with wedding dress

..AIBU not to have had a plan on place for it before the wedding?

Married 3 weeks ago. Dress was £600, £100 alterations.

A huge part of me wants to wear it every day and veg on the sofa in it like that Friends episode, just enjoying the most expensive item of clothing I'll ever wear.

Another part says donate it to a charitable cause.

Another part says recoup what money I can, and pay off the disastrous due to Hurricane Irma honeymoon credit card. But where to sell it, and do I have it dry cleaned first?

I'm so torn!

There is a charity called gift of a wedding giftofawedding.org/ that help arrange weddings asap for terminally ill people at no cost. I know they are always grateful for donated dresses that can be reused by one of their brides.

They arranged a wedding for a friend of mine after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. They do an amazing job.

You look great, OP. What a lovely shape.

Personally, I would sell the dress and put the money towards another honeymoon ( a short break?) and donate a bit to charity.

I sold the dress I wore to my first wedding, using Preloved, a few years after (got just over half the money back for it, which I desperately needed at the time!). My second dress was a lot cheaper and it's hanging in the wardrobe, waiting to be cut down into a cocktail gown.

Mine is in the wardrobe, the hamster escaped and chewed the hem to make a nest
I am not bitterGrin

Keep it in the wardrobe and put it on now and then just because... I've been married 17 years and still have mine hanging there for when I fancy a flounce about Grin the last time I put it on was a couple of weeks ago because it was our anniversary but I usually end up wearing it for an hour or so a couple of times a year just for fun. The kids love it and I expect DD will want to have a go soon as she is nearly as big as me.
My dress is a simple zip up though - if it was a huge faff to get on with corsets etc I don't think I would bother so maybe that's a factor too...

If you're planning on selling it, would you mind pm ing me please? My soon to be sister in law is looking for a wedding dress just like this one (in fact it's from the wed 2b site so may well be the same one)
If you do decide to sell could you let me know the size of the dress?
It really is lovely 😊

Frame the fecker, smack bang in the middle of your living room... ooh or infact right infront of the toilet Grin

Mines been gathering dust on my wardrobe for 7 years...

eBaydrama · 15/09/2017 21:29

Sorry if already suggested but do a fundraiser where people wear wedding dresses for fun... and wear...raise money for charity that way and then sell

beecrazy · 15/09/2017 21:48

I've just made mine into a christening gown for my grandchild....
I've been married more than 40 years!

Bluelonerose · 15/09/2017 21:50

I've been divorced 2 years and mines still hanging in the wardrobe. I can't bear to part with it. It's the only day in my life I have felt beautiful.
