Advert here - because we users need a really really good person to get the job?

And also - MNHQ has a choir?!

I genuinely didn't understand half of the job description but I really want the job... I know a little python & am ace at word/excel! Pick me MNHQ! Grin

OlennasWimple · 15/09/2017 14:10

I hope they have more interest from qualified candidates than there has been in this thread Grin

I wouldn't mind the job either but sadly I am not in London and it would be a bit of a commute. I am not quite sure what a 'knowledge session' entails? Is it a posh term for training?

BurnTheBlackSuit · 15/09/2017 14:18

I want more information about their choir!

DarceyBusselsNose · 15/09/2017 14:18

Perk of the job, fast food and alcohol!

everybodysang · 15/09/2017 19:36

I can't do the job but I work about three seconds away. Can I join the choir?

QueenMortificado · 15/09/2017 19:40

I know it's really childish but whenever I hear about back end developers it makes me giggle....

Maryof1993 · 15/09/2017 19:45

Well, in a few months, this website will become decidedly user-unfriendly, then!

FuzzyCustard · 15/09/2017 19:47

I could do the choir but not the job.

OlennasWimple · 15/09/2017 20:03

I'm about to report my post - maybe someone will come and enlighten us about the choir!

NotCornflakes · 15/09/2017 20:07

I want to know what vanilla JavaScript is! Is it like vanilla ice cream?

FlissMumsnet · 15/09/2017 20:11

I would very much like to reveal all about MNHQ choir but sadly I am not a member so will have to keep you all guessing for a little while longer.....

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 15/09/2017 20:13

I need the advert translated in to EnglishConfused

I'm guessing that means I don't need to applyGrin

I like the idea of the choir and sourdough pizza close by though. All my workplace offers is free parking.....

Kailoer · 15/09/2017 20:24

No salary range

The FE engineer I know wouldn't bother to apply, too few good candidates for too many positions. Why bother in case MN would be a huge pay cut (that might be fine but it's a massive time waste potentially)

Isn't wage secrecy one of the reasons women struggle to get equal pay?
No transparency, little data to guide them etc

I'd have thought MN would have been a shining beacon on this stuff...

specialsubject · 15/09/2017 20:27

Yes - no salary, no defined hours, London as always and no mention of work from home or flexible working.

QueenMortificado · 15/09/2017 20:28

Kailoer

I don't think I've ever seen a job advertised with salary before....

Kailoer · 15/09/2017 20:28

Great point!

If any job can be done flexibly or with less 9-5 structure it's that!

Come on MN, you can shine here!

Imstickingwiththisone · 15/09/2017 20:30

In my line of work a 'competitive' salary is 5p above minimum wage.

Kailoer · 15/09/2017 20:30

Ok no specific salary but are they looking for a basic junior Dev on 31k/yr or a seasoned middling weight? Or a senior Dev who also knows his sever stuff and can flex into support for testing, or a mini project lead at 80k/yr?

oldlaundbooth · 15/09/2017 20:30

See, I'd be great but I hate sourdough so it's a no from me MNHQ Grin

oldlaundbooth · 15/09/2017 20:32

They're after a programmer, from what I understand?

GinIsIn · 15/09/2017 20:33

DH is a developer - he looked at the ad and said "if the salary was that competitive, they'd be telling you what it was"....

OlennasWimple · 15/09/2017 20:37

If they included the salary we would probably all be slating it on here Grin

OP posts:
ProjectGainsborough · 15/09/2017 20:38

I don't know what Git is. I worked with many gits, but I'm guessing that's not what they're after...

VeryCunningStunt · 15/09/2017 20:39

No salary range

There never is anymore. Why is this? How do you know if it's worth putting together an application and prepping for an interview in case the position pays less than you want/need, or if they're going to laugh in your face when you tell them your salary expectations?
