to think McDonalds is expensive?

I mean great for a quick, cheap on-the-move treat Hmm.

But you get a tiny bit of meat with your burger and unless you stuff yourself with chips and ice-cream on top, are hungry 30 minutes later.

I've just made a delicious huge burger for lunch at home, with lovely seedy bun and big salad, probably for less than £1. [NoMrWhippyThough Sad]

How can you be hungry again half an hour later if you have a meal ? I do like it and think it's cheap but I don't go often because well frankly it's not that good for you is it ? 🤔

FlakeBook · 14/09/2017 19:36

It's gross but not expensive! I can feed me and my four dc for under £15. To buy all of us a panini and a drink in Nero or Costa would be nearer £35 and they'd be asking for more food.

Dahlietta · 14/09/2017 19:39

I can only say you don't get that at McDonalds

You certainly don't! probably too well minced I'm not too proud to eat a Maccie D's!

AdultHumanFemale · 14/09/2017 20:17

"The beauty of McDonald's..." Grin
I have a 99p burger on the go a couple of times a year, but always feel like I've just worshipped at the altar of all things eww.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 14/09/2017 20:25

The last time I had this conversation on here, it was about a mukbang.

Iheartjordanknight · 14/09/2017 20:44

Mary you can easily see the nutritional information for McDonald's meals- it's very clearly printed on each price of packaging and there really is nothing of note in any I've seen, and I probably go 5 times a year if that.

I understand that you're talking about America but no one else is so not really relevant to this thread?

Iheartjordanknight · 14/09/2017 20:47

Sorry I meant to say, about 15 years ago McDonald's got an absolute pounding in the Uk for their food- mainly publicised by Jamie Oliver- and have improved enormously since then. Unrecognisable. They sell salads, wraps, and normal meals. They don't push big sizes

Children's meal you can choose but easily buy fishfingers, Chips, a bag of apple slices and a bottle of water or milk. Surely no different to good you'll buy elsewhere? And it's like £2

dippyeggsandtoast · 14/09/2017 20:48

Five Guys: They are pretty expensive. A Taco Bell has just came to Leeds, think they are reasonable enough. I think Dominoes is overpriced but Mc Donald's is fine. I prefer a boots meal deal though.

A Happy Meal is £2.69, and includes main, side (chips or fruit/veg), drink and toy Smile

Nutritional information is printed on the back of every tray liner and published online. There's even a nutritional calculator to make it easy Smile

Iheartjordanknight · 14/09/2017 21:06

Also whattodo- McDonalds had the best customer service and still works as a model most companies would love to emulate. I've sat in many a McDonald's watching the staff for tips with various directors Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 14/09/2017 21:12

Iheartjordanknight Yep, we get a lot of training, and that's just as a regular crew member. If you start climbing, the training increases dramatically.

I absolutely love my job and it's a pleasure to work for them; I'm proud of the food quality and particularly the work of the Ronald McDonald House.

It's nice to know we're appreciated Smile

Easter Smile
EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 14/09/2017 21:32

I hope DD never has a hangover Whoooo or she's had it, she has sensory issues with greasy food and McDonald's hash browns make her heave. 😷

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 14/09/2017 21:48

existential I also feel dehydrated after a McDonald's or Burger King meal, if it's not the salt, what is it? My DC feel it too.

existentialmoment · 14/09/2017 21:48

Well I'm American, so it's relevant to me

Well then you can keep your crap food, but don't be so rude (and wrong) to the rest of us who live in countries with far higher standards.
Your McDonalds may be shit food, but in Europe it is far higher quality. Perhaps educate yourself on that?

existentialmoment · 14/09/2017 21:50

existential I also feel dehydrated after a McDonald's or Burger King meal, if it's not the salt, what is it?

Possibly psychosomatic. Or if you are one of those people who don't use any salt for some strange reason, you could simply not be used to the relatively small amount in the food?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 14/09/2017 21:56

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis I don't know why you are feeling like that; there isn't a reason to.

However, if you ask us when you order, you can get unsalted fries Smile

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 15/09/2017 05:24

I doubt it's psychosomatic existential, as I have no problem with McDonald's, it's just an observation. I know that after a McDonald's or Burger King, I'll be drinking water all night.

I probably eat more salt than I used to, I eat more processed food. I never add salt to cooking, as I don't need it.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 15/09/2017 05:26

I know, WhatToDo, but fries without salt would be yeurk. 😝

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/09/2017 06:25

There's no more salt in McDonalds than there is in things like a ham sandwich and the amount of salt on fries would be tiny compared with salt in ham, bread and other processed food.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 15/09/2017 09:05

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis Okay; it's just not a lot of people know that.

But really, there isn't anymore salt in the food than there is in anything else.

existentialmoment · 15/09/2017 10:22

Well there isn't any actual reason, EvilDoctor, unless you have some kind of unusual allergy. There is no more salt in your mcD's than in any number of other foods you would eat. A tin of tomato soup has more salt in it than a Big Mac and fries.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 15/09/2017 10:28

As I said, it also happens after eating Burger King food. I'm just weird! 😂

Greenbucket · 15/09/2017 10:51

my homemade vegetable stir fry makes me more thirsty than macdonalds. Its the soy sauce I think.

sweetbitter · 15/09/2017 12:34

I think it's good value for being able to eat a hot meal quickly and at a table. That's what I pay for at McD's.
