to think McDonalds is expensive?

I mean great for a quick, cheap on-the-move treat Hmm.

But you get a tiny bit of meat with your burger and unless you stuff yourself with chips and ice-cream on top, are hungry 30 minutes later.

I've just made a delicious huge burger for lunch at home, with lovely seedy bun and big salad, probably for less than £1. [NoMrWhippyThough Sad]

My Grandmother always did the "I could have made this at home for 50p" routine whenever you took her out to eat anywhere. It's somewhat missing the point of eating out.
Plus, YABU. McDonalds is not expensive.

WorraLiberty · 13/09/2017 16:23

It's about £4.70 for a medium cheeseburger, medium fries and medium drink isn't it?

I don't think that's an expensive dinner at all.

And I'm normally a tight cow Blush Grin

OMGwhattodonow · 13/09/2017 16:24

Our cheapest takeaway is curry, you get two days worth for £30 if you make your own rice and order mainly vegetarian.

OMGwhattodonow · 13/09/2017 16:25

Not on the move though - so a fail!

alltouchedout · 13/09/2017 16:27

I think Burger King is much better value for money. Yes, the price of each meal tends to be higher than the McDonald's equivalent, but the food (the veggie beanburgers anyway, and DH says the same for the meat products) is much much better, and I don't get that hungry again feeling with an hour or two as I always seem to after a McDonalds. Although I don't like BK chips as much.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 13/09/2017 16:33

There is no fucking way I could go until the next day with a big Mac meal for lunch, tbh I'd probably struggle to get to the next meal time...

gluteustothemaximus · 13/09/2017 16:34

I find I'm stuffed on a macdonalds. It's healthy food that doesn't fill me up. I must be odd.

Big Mac and fries and I'm done. It is around 1000 calories though.

I'll eat some yummy healthy prawn, noodle, stir fry veg thing and starving 30 minutes later.

It's cheap if you're buying for one. Not so much x 5 unless you've got vouchers.

99p for a cheeseburger on the move? Yum yum. Oh god, now I want a 🍔. Why do I click on these threads?!

ConciseandNice · 13/09/2017 16:34

It's the cheapest crap money can buy.

ghostyslovesheets · 13/09/2017 16:35

I find it filling

not pricey here but 5 of us went in France recently - nothing fancy just 1 happy meal, 4 burger meals - 43 Euros !

that was expensive!

19lottie82 · 13/09/2017 16:36

OMG.......... hooserice!!!!!

(I'm guessing no one else will get that unless they're a Kevin bridges fan!)

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 13/09/2017 16:37

I think any time you compare eating out to eating at home, home will be cheaper.

However, McDonalds is a restaurant, so that means if you want to compare prices you should compare it to other restaurants.

There aren't many restaurants you can go to that have an adult meal for £4.49 as standard or a kids meal for £2.49 as standard. There is also table service and ipads for children to play on in most restaurants, plus most desserts are 99p.

kmc1111 · 13/09/2017 16:39

I find it fairly expensive. Not so much if it's just one person and they order some of the cheaper options, but if you're buying for a group you can do much better with other takeaway options.

I also know a lot of men and active women who buy 2 of the larger burgers, nuggets, large drink etc. At that point you can definitely get a more substantial takeaway for less.

Dahlietta · 13/09/2017 16:41

Oo no, BK is rank. The burgers are full of those disturbing little tube things that remind you that you're eating dead animals and, as you say, the chips are rubbish.

SDaddy007 · 13/09/2017 16:41

I use the trick using the receipt to give feed back and getting a big mac and fried for £2.00

They then give you another receipt to do it again.

And again.

rockshandy · 13/09/2017 16:42

In terms of quality and volume of food in comparison to other fast food I find it expensive.

For a similar spend in KFC our family of four can have a much more satisfying meal. KFC is still junk, but its better junk. :o

Having McDonald's is like eating cardboard.

SDaddy007 · 13/09/2017 16:42

God my English is terrible.

What I meant to say is that on the receipt there is a website address where you give feedback, takes 5 mins, then they give you a number and you can get a meal for £2.00 and you can repeat this as many times as you like.

alltouchedout · 13/09/2017 16:45

Grin Grin Grin
What are the little tube things? I haven't eaten meat in over 25 years so I can't really remember it... are they veins or something?

Do love a BK Veggie Beanburger though, so much. And I really fancy one now.

balsamicbarbara · 13/09/2017 16:48

McDonald's is relatively cheap! Burger King is far more expensive and if you go somewhere like Five Guys.. be prepared to take out a second mortgage Grin If you're hungry after a large meal at McDonald's, you have other issues to deal with or are just greedy.

Deux · 13/09/2017 16:48

I'm surprised you think it's expensive. I go with the DCs for tea when DH is away or out and it's about £11 for the 3 of us. It's consistent, reliable and no dishes to do either. I don't compare it to home made though. When I go there it's so I don't have to cook or clean up.

ConciseandNice · 13/09/2017 16:50

We're normally in Starbucks and spend 20-30 quid on food. McDonalds is around a tenner. Cheap (and not as good).

FreshSet · 13/09/2017 16:52

would love to know how you can make that for £1

TableMirror · 13/09/2017 16:52

We had it at the weekend, it's cheap but pointless. We both felt hungry and thirsty afterwards.

BorisTrumpsHair · 13/09/2017 16:55

It's a multi-billion pound huge giant massive corporation.
They are doing OK and I'm sure they charge as much as they feel they can.

MuddlingThroughLife · 13/09/2017 16:55

I'm stuffed after a McD but that's probably because I have big mac (no cheese), large fries and hamburger. Keeps me going all day. Not bad price.

Migraleve · 13/09/2017 16:56

YABU

McDonald's is not expensive at all. How can £2.49 for a kids meal be considered expensive Confused
