To ask how much you pay for electricity every month?

I feel like our bill just goes up and up.

We are paying £110 a month for a small three bed semi with EDF. Does this sound like a lot?

We use the tumble dryer a lot, although trying to cut down, and use a small heater in our lounge and bedroom during the winter evenings because we have night storage heating and it's rubbish (we don't even bother switching it on anymore).

I recall paying £70 a couple of years ago. It feels like since DD has come along, we are spending a lot more.

£13 a week. New bungalow - 3 beds 3 reception rooms. On maternity leave so in the House loads
Tumble dryer on at least once a day - its an energy effiecient heat pump one.

Pay £50 gas every month by direct debit.

SheSaidHeSaid · 20/09/2017 17:27

£90 a month for gas and electricity in a 4 bed terraced (So prob more insulated than a detached, for example).

That's with Places for People energy. They're a relatively new energy company but they've been really good for me for the two years I've been with them.

minicheddars90 · 20/09/2017 17:29

We pay £57 a month for both gas and electric combined, and we're with Octopus energy, green and renewable etc.

There's only two of us at the moment, we're also in a 3 bed semi new build. Currently in £70 credit since May this year.

BMW6 · 20/09/2017 17:43

We're with British Gas, 2 bed terrace house. We only pay for what was used the previous month, so don't pay a fixed monthly amount.
Last month gas was £12 (gas combined boiler and gas hob). Most we've paid £98 (CH on all day in depths of winter)
Last month electric £32 (electric oven, tumble drier). Biggest electric bill £38.

Some of the amounts being charged are Shock

Indie139 · 20/09/2017 20:37

Currently on approx £30 gas and £35 electric per month so about £65 total

2 bedroom maisonette with tumble dryer

Copperspot · 20/09/2017 21:18

Live alone in 2 bed flat. All electric.

I pay £47 a month

Shower every night
2 / 3 loads of washing a week
Always charging stuff
Cooker used every night
Heating on when needed

Copperspot · 20/09/2017 21:20

To add, i'm not careful with my electric. I refuse to be cold.

bellabasset · 20/09/2017 21:40

You need to know what your usage is in k watt hours and your costs per k watt hour and the daily standing charge so you can compare costs. My usage to 31.10.17 should be around 9300 for gas and 2600 for electricity. I had a good deal with Sainsburys Energy and my bill will be around £700. However SE's costs (as part of BG) will be increasing and if I can't find a better deal my costs will be nearer £900.00.

I will be looking at different alternatives to reduce my bill

last quarter for gas and electric
£27.64 for gas
£68 for electric
So about £22 a month?

LongWavyHair · 20/09/2017 22:10

About £40-50 a month for electricity.
Same for gas.

So at most, about £100 a month for both. During winter maybe slightly more.

Ivy79 · 20/09/2017 22:11

@Turquoise88

Does it include heating too? Ours is £75 a month for gas AND electric - and we have a small-ish 3 bed bungalow, like this

Switched from British Gas this month. Paying £55 for electricity & £39 for gas for 3 beds. We both work full time & Don't use a tumble drier. Heating is only on when it's cold for an hour in the morning & in the evenings.

TheZeppo · 20/09/2017 22:21

£28 per month for gas and electric! 2 bed terrace. Literally put in readings a few days ago and still massively in credit for the winter, so it's fairly Accurate!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 20/09/2017 22:29

2 bed flat. I rarely put the heating on as I get heat from downstairs neighbours Grin but I use my tumble dryer.

Combined gas and electric is £42 per month.

Can't believe those of you who spend hundreds per month. Aren't your houses boiling?!!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 20/09/2017 22:57

Intersting info on the bottom of my most recent utility bill about:
a) average bills; and
b) cost of running appliances - eg tumble dryer is 24p per hour! Laptop is 1p per hour.

Chickenvindaloo2 it's interesting to see that info I am with the same company and have cut my tumble dryer usage a lot since I saw the figures.

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 08/03/2018 16:49

I pay £100 for gas and electric. Just had a letter saying it was going down to £70! 3 bed semi. I rinse the heating, washing machine and tumble dryer. It’s a new build though so pretty economic.

I think £100 if you’re using a tumble dryer and heaters isn’t bad

roses2 · 08/03/2018 16:52

4 bed 3 storey mid terraced in London. Family of 5.

We pay £60/month gas + £38/month electric. This is based on actual readings I submit on a monthly basis - not estimates.

No tumble dryer or electric heater. Combi boiler.

I’m with economy energy who have terrible customer service but are very cheap.

Troels · 08/03/2018 17:03

We pay £98 a month for gas and elctric combined, EDF
We have a good sized 3 bed the heating seems to be on all the time, the washing machine and dishwasher are on daily and the dryer 4 or 5 times a week.
