Do you have any beer, they love it. Fall in and die.

I'm sure I'll be battered for the cruelty, but they're hideous fucking fuckers and adios is the only way.

HelloPossums · 12/09/2017 00:09

Beer? Slug pellets? (Not sure how humane these are, but I thought beer might be more humane than salt, as apparently it can be really nasty :()

So sorry, OP :( I hate slugs too!!! How do you think they could be coming in? Is it worth checking for holes or openings into your kitchen and plugging them up?

WowserBowser · 12/09/2017 00:10

We used to get them in the kitchen. They would go back outside if I put the light on.

Jupitertomars · 12/09/2017 00:10

I have no idea. I cant even imagine. Ill get oh to check when hes home in two days. Can they reach my bedroom.

Is it pathetic that im in tears at the thought of an infestation in my house. I feel sick.

Have you checked your iron?

Babyiwantabump · 12/09/2017 00:12

But with a more helpful comment - alcohol especially beer . Put it in a shallow dish like a saucer and they will crawl in and die a drunk and happy death.

HelloPossums · 12/09/2017 00:13

OP FlowersFlowers I think carpeted surfaces would be really difficult for them, so I'm sure they couldn't make it upstairs or anything like that. That's maybe people find them in places like their kitchen, which generally has a cold tiled surface.

Baby Grin

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 12/09/2017 00:15

Something scratchy on the floor will work, so a doormat in front of where they're coming in might work

RozDoyle · 12/09/2017 00:16

Slugs are horrible but please don't pour salt on them. I read that it's a really painful way for them to die.

I know you don't have any salt but reading about salt and slugs makes me feel a bit sad.

MrsMoastyToasty · 12/09/2017 00:18

Have you got a leak in the kitchen or under the floor? They like the damp so it's a likely cause.

SuperRainbows · 12/09/2017 00:18

I feel your pain! I've just found one in my sink having crawled up the pipe.
Last year on holiday my dd put a washing up bowl full of dishes outside the caravan. I carried it in later and there were slugs everywhere! It was so gross.

Bunbunbunny · 12/09/2017 00:18

Try copper tape around kick boards and check air vents www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DDVFVKW?tag=mumsnetforum-21

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 12/09/2017 00:19

Meh. Fuck then and their slimy ways. Judging by their appearance after slug pellets, salt is a key ingredient

StarfishSeahorse · 12/09/2017 00:19

It rubber gloves on sweep in to dust pan and flick um out out the window.
Burn dust pan and brush.

HelloPossums · 12/09/2017 00:22

I know you don't have any salt but reading about salt and slugs makes me feel a bit sad.

Me too Roz :(

uokhunni · 12/09/2017 00:22

I am also phobic of slugs but I would never salt them - the mess would be even worse to get rid of than an actual slug plus it's so cruel.

BackforGood · 12/09/2017 00:23

Just sweep them onto a dustpan, and chuck out. They aren't exactly fast moving - it's not like trying to catch a spider or a wasp to put out.

AssassinatedBeauty · 12/09/2017 00:25

Slugs can't feel pain, they don't have brains - they have tiny numbers of neurons in small clumps distributed around their bodies. Just enough to move around, feed and make very simple decisions. Not enough for anything else. I wouldn't feel too bad about salting the slimey fuckers.

Jupitertomars · 12/09/2017 00:27

I honestly cannot sweep them up. Im not exaggerating when I say I feel sick at the thought. They've been appearing for weeks and one was inside my washing machine which is in my utility, fairly far from where the kitchen is.

I doubt ill sleep tonight. No beer either. Just wonder where else they are and where they are coming from.

Don't use slug pellets. They are really dangerous to other animals and children as well as incredibly cruel to slugs. I just pick them up from the garden path and put them over the fence. Could you scoop them with a bit of card into a bowl?

RWBY · 12/09/2017 00:29

Oh my goodness OP I have such a phobia about slugs, I have been known to surround all entrances to are home with a magical circle of salt.

Many years ago I got home from work late and settled down to watch TV. Now husband was at a family party. After 20 mins or so something in the kitchen caught my eye and then I noticed that it was a massive, horrible, slimy slug on the tea towel hanging from our sink. It makes me shiver just thinking about it Envy

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 12/09/2017 00:30

If I don't use slug pellets the bastards eat my entire garden, and I plant things they don't usually eat.

badbadhusky · 12/09/2017 00:31

Do you have any Oxo cubes? They must be salty enough, but less harmful to pets than slug pellets?

uokhunni · 12/09/2017 00:31

When I was single I used to have lovely gay neighbour's help me out if I had slug issues.is anyone still up near you?
I now live in a much less sluggy area (more inland) and in a 3 storey.
