Hi all

We are moving our almost 2 year old girl out of the nursery and into a bigger bedroom. She is obsessed with Minions. I love wallpaper murals. We have a Toy Story one in the playroom that looks amazing. So I wanted to do one of these murals on one wall of her new bedroom and then paint the other 3 walls.

So I just want to know which you prefer and what colour you would do the other walls?

This is the first time I've posted a question so please let me know if the links don't work properly.

Thanks. Smile

Cantspell2- that sounds really good. Liking the idea of grey the more I think about it. And I tend to get good quality plain coloured curtains (ready made or made to measure) rather than kids ones as they are so thin and I really don't like them. So the grey curtains could work really well.

I was thinking if you're going to have a wallpaper mural that is so 'striking' the rest of the room should be more subdued??

Cantspell2- we aren't changing the carpet at the moment. It has been in there 5 years but has been a spare room and never used so like new. It's an oatmeal coloured burbar (sp??). Do you think that would work? We have the same carpet in the hall which seems to work with the grey wallpaper.

Yes I would go bold on the wallpaper but keep everything else toned down. Pale grey wall, white woodwork (but then I think all woodwork should be white and my eyes bleed if I see brightly coloured skirting boards). Curtains in one block colour and nothing else on the painted walls. Would look good and easy to change the wallpaper once the minions phase has pasted.

That carpet would tone in fine with a pale grey and it would be a waste to change a carpet that is only 5 years old.

Cantspell2 - I think that's my preference then. Just have to persuade DH later.

We have very different ideas in decorating, but I have to be honest, most of his ideas have worked in the end. The last room we decorated was the hall and landing and he came home and said we should do it bright orange. I almost had a heart attack. I had a lovely dove grey mixture of paint and muted wallpaper in mind. In the end we did grey woodland wallpaper on some walls, really pale grey paint on some walls and then a gorgeous orangey coral colour on 2 small walls. It sounds gross but everyone who comes to the house comments on it. And it looks so warm.

I'd do the rest of the room white as it looks good with bright yellow

Cantspell2 · 11/09/2017 16:26

I actually think that sounds really nice. I like a bit of bold in with my muted colours. Stops it from being the same as everyone else has and gives a home a bit of the personality of the people who live there.

I prefer the one with loads of heads on it. Won't show any marks as it's so busy and with the other one you'd have triplble putting anything on that wall as you would hide the whole picture. I actually love it. I hate kids rooms that are like an adults room, they are young for such a short time it's great to do what they want. My girl wants Thomas so we are currently looking at our options for that!
