Bellabelly - Thank you! Finally someone on my wavelength!

Linnet · 04/04/2007 00:05

I wouldn't mind so much if the cats were digging in the flowerbeds and burying their poo, but it's the fact that they do it on the grass that I find repulsive. I have two children and it's not fun to have to go out and check the garden everytime they want to go out to play or I want to go out and hang out the washing.

I thought all cats buried their mess but since moving to this house it seems not. I've been told that only dirty cats don't bury their mess, well if that's the case then there are many dirty cats in my area and everyone elses by the looks of things.

dionnelorraine · 04/04/2007 00:07

I agree, i am a mum and its not very nice when your kiddies want to go in the garden, but unfortunatly we all have to do it.

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2007 00:09

tell me about DL, My cat was shot last year, with a high powered air rifle, it shattered his hind leg into 10 small pieces. He had to have an operation for pin his leg back together, he was at the vets for other week, and had to be in a cage at home for 3 months. He had to have another operation to remove the pin. He now has one knee that is off place and he will stuffer as he gets older This the article that the local paper ran last year

the pellet is still in his leg too, as it was too close to the nerve to remove it. It cost over £1800 for all his treatment.

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2007 00:13

excuse me, my cats stay in now, I don't let them out, because some sick and twisted person thought it was fun to take potshots at my cat!!!

dionnelorraine · 04/04/2007 00:13

Oh, SGK thats awful. Its all down to mindless tosspots who just dont think about what they are actually doing. Its amazing the damage that can be done isnt it. If someone ever hurt my cat and I knew who it was, believe me I would do the same back to them!
How is he doing now, adapting ok?

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2007 00:14

his leg is still wobbly and it gives way sometimes, but he is ok now.

omg the typos in my posts are terrible

dionnelorraine · 04/04/2007 00:17

KM. It is impossible to keep all cats indoors! My cat is indoors but I have had cats in the past that just go crazy if they cant be let out. Different personalities etc.
What a very narrow minded comment! Some people just have no idea what they are going on about!
Everyone has the cat/garden issue. Use natural deterents like normal people or just stop winging about it!

Hilllary · 04/04/2007 00:18

I've not read the whole thread but had the same problem with cats in my garden bloody things I tried everything under the sun from sprays to water pistols to putting nails in the fence to stop them walking on it etc.. nothing worked.. then I thought about my horse who crib bit (ate the fence) had an idea, the stuff I bought to stop my horse chewing the fences was like earwax it was thick glumpy smelly stuff which never comes off its discusting & she always got it on her fur which had to be cut out!

I went to my local saddlery and bought a pot of it its called "Cribox" its about £6 a pot, I smeared it on the top of the fence with a knife (like putty) & on anywhere the cats came in, no cat ever came into my garden again!! that was 8 months ago, it has been snowed on, rained on everything. NO cat will walk on it, its not harmfull to them it just gets stuck on their paws and they cant walk on it.

Bloody marvolous

dionnelorraine · 04/04/2007 00:19

Well if your pregnant then I suggest you dont touch the feaces! Or is that a concept you dont understand!

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2007 00:19

FFS of course I know how dangerous cat poo is to pregnant woman..... I am pregnant myself, and I know not to clean out the tray...
People do not have a right to shot animals, no matter what they do, it is against the law, I had to have the police involved, as it cased as a fire arms offence.

Kerrymum - that's ridiculous - would it be ok to say "if you don't want your child hurt keep him / her inside"? No, of course not!!

Can I suggest something? Maybe kids can go in the garden and play even if (gasp) mum hasn't scoured the lawn and flowerbeds for offending lumps of cat shit? How many kids are actually harmed each year by cat poo? Can't imagine it's very many... Maybe kids should just be taught not to touch it?

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2007 00:21

oh and guess what!!! Even though my cats don't go out anymore, I still have to clean up cat poo.... some cats are strays, some cats don't like living indoors. Its a problem we all have, even indoor cats owners

PiusIX · 04/04/2007 00:23

Well kerrymum, I was beginning to wonder why you were so interested in cat poo...

dionnelorraine · 04/04/2007 00:24

What a load of crap! Cats roam the streets. You cant stop them. It is normal and has been fo hundreds of years. If a cat owner who lets their cat out has them neutered, microchipped and tagged then that is a s responsible as they can be. They can not train cats where they can and cant poo! Its impossible, do you not understand that?? It is the gardens owners responsibility to get something to deter the cats that isnt cruel. There are many things. may seem harsh, but its true!

PiusIX · 04/04/2007 00:25

Kerrymum - do you know how many kids are killed each year by cat poo?

dionnelorraine · 04/04/2007 00:26

Km - in answer to you q. Yes you do sound like an idiot!

Hilllary · 04/04/2007 00:26

I'm not getting into this arguement but I dont like it when there's cat poo all over my garden, we are the only house without a cat so they all use my garden as a lavatory people who own cats have no idea what they get up to, but thats a fact of cats, there will always be cats you just have to teach them not to enter your teratory.

I dont think it fair when I have to clean up after my dog when it fouls on the path but the cat craps and walks on by.
