To wear the same outfit everyday

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 09/09/2017 10:08

Obviously not literally the same outfit or I would stink.

I'm seriously considering just buying a 10 tops (work or casual), 3 pairs of jeans and three pairs of work trousers. (Would have to be 10 jumpers for winter, t shirts for summer).
And just wearing the same outfit each day. I've never been much of a one for fashion and this would make life so simple.

Would have to have the odd different outfit for special occasions but there's not many of those.

Would people think I'm bonkers if they see me in exactly the same outfit each day?

I see a lot of people do this. My sense of smell is bad so I can't even tell you if they've watched. One of them only wears Designer brands is obsessive about cleaning, so I assume she washes & dries every night.

I'm surprised you don't have lots of other clothes to wear already, though. Most people have an overflowing wardrobe of under-worn clothes.

lljkk · 09/09/2017 10:15

*washed... my typos are legendary today.

PurplePillowCase · 09/09/2017 10:18

yanbu
I have a work 'uniform' of black jeans (can't find trousers that fit well and have pockets and don't feel like wearing a plastic tarp) and long sleeve jersey tops.
saves lots of time, just take the first item from the pile each morning.
no ironing either.

Twinkletowedelephant · 09/09/2017 10:21

I worked with. Woman who wore black trousers and a white shirt with different colour accessories every day I rember Tuesday was yellow :)

She said it made life much easier

KweenOfFarts · 09/09/2017 10:25

Honestly I wouldn't notice. The only thing I notice is if things aren't ironed like shirts or if they grubby.

MumBod · 09/09/2017 10:27

Simon Cowell does this, apparently.

MrsJakeLovell · 09/09/2017 10:32

Matilda Kahl has done this a few years now

If you got things in 3/4 colours that work together e.g. navy, white, grey (could easily be brighter colours but just ones that work together) and say black, dark and medium wash jeans, you could still have the same clothes but it would be obvious that you had changed outfits if that's important to you.

Leilaniii · 09/09/2017 10:35

Ooh, I love this idea! I always have a favourite outfit and hate everything else. I would love to just have 5 of the same outfit and wear them all through the week.

QueenJulian · 09/09/2017 10:36

It involves a bit more work in the shopping but the dressing part is just as easy as everything co-ordinates.

EnidNextDoor · 09/09/2017 10:36

Mark zuckerberg does this. Basically any man who wears a suit to work does this too.

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 09/09/2017 10:37

Apparently it's supposed to be quite freeing to do this and I have pretty much done it. All work tops are the same but different colours and I have casual tops for home which are all the same but different colours

EnidNextDoor · 09/09/2017 10:37

It's a fabulous idea. I always wear black trousers and dark t-shirt to work, then you've got more thinking room for other, more important, stuff.

missmouse101 · 09/09/2017 10:40

I do this every day for work and I really love it. I have 3 sets of navy (identical smart navy trousers and 3 navy+white tops) and 3 sets in black. They are all from the same shop, bought with a % off voucher and are brilliantly easy to wash and dry. No time wasted choosing every day, I know I look smart and if I ever feel the need to introduce a little change, I just add a scarf that goes with the outfit. It is a relief to save time. Do it-you won't look back!

EyesUnderARock · 09/09/2017 10:41

I do this for work, it simplifies things and I've never been bothered about fashion and clothing in general. Personal hygiene, I am very fussy about!
The only comments you will get will be from women for whom it's A Big Deal. The sort that ask 'What shall I wear for the school run?' Up to you to decide if that would bother you.

lalalonglegs · 09/09/2017 10:45

I did this when I was pregnant: I had two pairs of black trousers and two black skirts with identical maternity tops in different colours. It was very liberating (I'm too much of a magpie to do it in non-pregnant life though).

Tazerface · 09/09/2017 10:49

Loads of people do it - capsule wardrobe.

Seriously your life will be so much easier!

(Just don't do what I did and gain a load of weight meaning nothing fits you)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 09/09/2017 10:51

Mark zuckerberg does this. Basically any man who wears a suit to work does this too

But men don't normally wear suits at the weekend.

She said it made life much easier

This is what I'm after. No thought required. If it's work it's outfit x, weekend it's outfit y.

Thanks you've put my mind at ease. People won't notice and those that do won't care. Grin

I would like to do this too. The thing I find difficult, and perhaps its cause I'm a piggy, is that I change shape a lot, so my clothes periodically don't fit and then do etc etc.

Also, do you still have special occasions clothes? Like weddings, Christmas?

gunsandbanjos · 09/09/2017 10:53

You've essentially described a capsule wardrobe, it's an excellent idea.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 09/09/2017 11:09

I always thought that was similar pieces. I'm going for exactly the same thing everyday.

coddiwomple · 09/09/2017 11:10

I have 4 or 5 black suits, 3 or 4 dark grey ones and a pile of mainly white tshirts and shirts for work. I am always wearing the same outfit unless I put on a dress, the only variety comes from my collection of handbags and shoes. Unless my legs are suddenly on show, I am pretty sure no one ever noticed, or would care.

Slimthistime · 09/09/2017 11:11

I do this. Very handy.

Slimthistime · 09/09/2017 11:13

Someone said it involved more work in shopping
No it doesn't
You just buy multiples.

C8H10N4O2 · 09/09/2017 11:13

This is what most men do - including weekends if you have the jeans/work trousers divide you are planning.

Its what I do as well. I have some standard work suits, shirts/tops, knitwear in colours and a style which works for me (and have been pretty consistent for a long time now).
