Just finished watching the last episode. I thought the last few episodes were quite good, but thought the last episode (last one in the series) was really unrealistic and a bit rubbish.

What did everyone else think?

I agree.
Lie, put people's lives in danger, behave like a shit = get your dream job, dream man.

Felt sorry for Karl.

Now Doctor Foster...awesome!

The whole thing was implausible from the start, and just became more so. I think they only puffed it up because the lead will be the new dr who.
Things like, how did she get a bank account and rent a flat with a false name? Rubbish.

Ya full of plot holes .

theduchessstill · 09/09/2017 08:36

I agree. Much like the other BBC drama last year about the woman on mat leave - that was good then spoilt by an ott final episode.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/09/2017 08:43

Here's my diagnosis:
Plot holes a mile wide
Second series possible (will they catch the pair of them?)
Shameless attempt by BBC to get Jodie Whittaker out of our minds as Beth Latimer before she becomes Dr Who.
Would have been more believable if she'd been in a different hospital department, but the A&E bits were what kept the plot ticking nice and fast and added a bit of drama.

There's a longer thread about this show in telly addicts, I'll see if I can link it for you!

can't believe her love interest, a doctor himself, fully trained and all, would let her get away with it. total mills and boon.

SunnyCoco · 09/09/2017 09:13

It might have worked if it was set about 20 years ago
But in this day and age totally unrealistic that her new boss / colleagues wouldn't have done a cursory Google / LinkedIn / Facebook check before employing her , and therefore found out immediately that she wasn't who she said she was
(I know he eventually googled her, but i mean before that)

I enjoyed it but I had to suspend my disbelief a LOT. Not only would it be incredibly difficult to pull off these days, but the medical world is quite small. I find it very difficult to believe that absolutely no-one in the new hospital or locally would not have come across the real Alison Sutton. Especially given Sheffield and Edinburgh are not exactly at opposite ends of the country.

And they definitely set it up for a second series, which I found really disappointing. The plot simply isn't strong enough to support a 2nd series.

CoughLaughFart · 09/09/2017 09:24

Yeah, I was watching on iPlayer and didn't catch on that it was the last episode until there was no 'next time on...' teaser at the end. It was all a bit too convenient that Sharon Small turned out to be an old lush, leaving a senior role open that FakeDoc pretty much walked into. It all smacks of 'Let's leave it open in case it gets good ratings and we can do a second series'.

HelloPossums · 09/09/2017 09:51

Totally agree with all of your comments.

can't believe her love interest, a doctor himself, fully trained and all, would let her get away with it. Absolutely Slarty - I was so surprised. He seemed so accepting, and just went along with it. That's when I thought it started to get a bit too far-fetched. I can't actually remember why he actually let her go through with it all - did he love her so much that he thought it was more important to protect her than to blow the whistle?

Such a shame really, as Jodie Whittaker is a great actress and I actually thought she was bloody brilliant in it, even if it didn't have much of a plot.

Concrete yeah same - I felt so sorry for Karl too :( he was treated really badly.
