To ask how often you bath

Just wondering how often people bath? If I don't bath for one day I stink!! I don't always have time in the morning before the school run, (don't have a shower) but I will completely reek and it's so embarrassing. Can't understand how people go 2-3 days which is apparently common without bathing?!

Personally I think the more you shower/wash your hair the more you have to do it. In our family we only shower once every 2-3 days. I have long thick hair so only wash it once a week. Hubby never uses shampoo (just water). The only time I seem to whiff a bit is after I exercise, so I that's when I shower.

Fluffyears · 09/09/2017 00:15

Have you retried anti bacterial soap? BO is caused by bacteria. I use dettol soap in the shower but you can also by hibiscrub just to do the armpit area and see if that helps.

Fleshy · 09/09/2017 00:20

OP I'm a sweaty beast and use a crystal stick, then strong antiperspirant like men's Mitchum or driclor, then anti perspirant spray. If your clothes have sweat build up on the armpits you'd need to fix that too, otherwise they start to stink as soon as body heat touches them.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 09/09/2017 00:26

I live in the bath. I'm there right now. I never leave. I haven't left the bath since 1992, which is an achievement because I was -2 years old then. I have very long arms so I can reach the washing machine to do the infinite cycle of cleaning the bedding and towels because if I touch them they are soiled and I will smell if I don't wash them. Anyone who does anything less than this is a dirty grimy smelly minger.

hophop333 · 09/09/2017 00:38

Shower twice a day, often three if been for a run/gym.
If you don't have a shower I can understand how two baths might be excessive on your time, why don't you just have a 'student wash' in the morning if you're worried?!

SomeOtherFuckers · 09/09/2017 00:49

Every 2-3 days , I don't smell and my hair gets dry if I wash it more frequently, and no I cannot just body wash as I have pretty bad eczema and the hot water ( or any water except salt water) makes it drastically worse and painful. It also means I can't use any soap ( correct no soap ever! ) and I will do not smell.

Letstryagainshallwe · 09/09/2017 00:53

I keep telling myself I will wake up earlier to fit a bath in but when that alarm goes off I just about get up! Baby is still awake now feeding and through the day she's at that phase where if she's put down she screams the house down. So all the jobs I don't get to do during the day end up being done at night. Thanks for the suggestions though I will definitely try them out.

Bath, never, and i don't understand how anyone can feel clean after a bath. You basically wash all the dirt and germs off you, and then sit in it, like a human filth soup. Unless you use a crap ton of disinfectant that is suitable for personal use in the water, even using antibacterial soap to lather and wash with, won't kill all the germs in the water that you're basically just spreading all over yourself, including fecal ones.

As for showering, i have OCD (as im sure my above mini rant will give away) and i typically have to shower every time i use the toilet, always with antibacterial soap (even to wash my hair) and its a long shower with several complete body washings. When i'm having a not so bad patch, i can go 2 or 3 days and don't smell, as im housebound and mostly sofa bound so not doing anything to get dirty or sweat, even without deodorant.

Only1scoop · 09/09/2017 06:32

'filth soup.'

Grin

Bathing every eve and showering in the morning ....I doubt it.

StripeyDeckchair · 09/09/2017 07:02

I shower daily, sometimes more (if it's hot or I've done some work that's got me sweaty).

I have a bath in the bathroom but dust it, I think the last time it was used was about 3 years ago. Showers are quicker, cleaner - you don't sit in your own dirt, more environmentally friendly and it s easy to wash your hair in the shower.

I know baths are supposed to be relaxing and sometimes I think about having one but I never get round to it; they take so much time.

SpareChangeDownTheSofa · 09/09/2017 07:23

Twice a year.

I'm a uni student and only have a shower, I only have a nice relaxing bath when I get to go home. Grin

bimbobaggins · 09/09/2017 07:25

I bath about one week per year, usually on holiday when I make sure the hotel has a bath.
Shower every day

Alexandra87 · 09/09/2017 07:29

Shower every morning bath every night.

LakieLady · 09/09/2017 08:55

Shower every morning, unless I get up very late, then I do face, fanny feet and pits at the sink.

About twice a year, I have a soak in the bath at home. If we go to a hotel, I always book a room with bath and spend a good couple of hours in there, with a book and a glass of wine.

I agree about "filth soup", so I always rinse off under the shower after a bath.

Dahlietta · 09/09/2017 09:20

These threads appear every two months!! So what how often people bathe or shower!!!

They do, don't they!? The thing is, OP, you bath every day and you still smell (apparently), so the number of times you wash is a bit of red herring. You need to try something else: see a GP, try some deodorant that might work for you, not the first one off the shelf. Mitchum - try that as a starting point.

sushiwushi · 09/09/2017 10:00

Not saying it would be everybody, but you do realise that sometimes people do not know when they smell because they have become accustomed to the odour?

To all those who say 'they don't smell' when not showering everyday.. are you sure?

I have had the displeasure of telling a member of my staff they smell to try and address the issue (complaints from other colleagues) and she honestly did not have a clue.

Bluntness100 · 09/09/2017 10:07

Op, just go to the doctors, he or she will run some blood tests. It's not normal to have excessive body odour so quickly, so there may be an inbalance. There is also medication for this type of issue. It's not embarrassing, just go get it sorted.

TheNaze73 · 09/09/2017 10:21

Do people that only shower or bath every 2-3 days not do any exercise?

BusterGonad · 09/09/2017 11:07

Sushi people don't smell after 2 days (unless they do a manual job), it's ridiculous, the media tell us we do so we buy more expensive bullshit we don't need. Today we need antibacterial washing powder, antibacterial soap, antibacterial carpet cleaning powder, a steamer for the floors, 48 hour deodorant, special fanny wipes and wash, zero body hair, clean clothes everyday, washing machine cleaner, special dish washer cleaner, PVA charcoal face mask. It's so unbelievably funny!

BusterGonad · 09/09/2017 11:11

I bath when I need to, wash my hair when it's greasy or feels like it needs it, wash my clothes when they are dirty or are smelling a bit used. Im not going to waste water or damage the environment by going to the extremes and washing everything everyday.
The cleaning companies hate people like me as 90% of the shite in the shops is faddy bollocks. The only time I've wasted my money on it is when we moved into a house that had a dog and the carpet stank. I was desperate. Nothing fulfilled the claims it promised!

OliviaStabler · 09/09/2017 11:14

I bath everyday.

RandomDent · 09/09/2017 11:19

I'm only here for when the strip washers arrive.

corythatwas · 09/09/2017 11:19

It's amazing how we managed to survive each other's smell in the days before 2 daily showers became the norm. I don't actually remember every single member of the human race reeking to high heavens 40 years ago. A few had BO, most did not. Pretty much like today really. Just minus the chemical smell that is wafted around people's living rooms wherever you go.

picklemepopcorn · 09/09/2017 11:29

I find the smell of other people's perfumed products, washing powder, soap, spray, etc really overpowering now I don't use it.

picklemepopcorn · 09/09/2017 11:31

That historian woman who does the Victorian kitchen etc did an interesting experiment on Tudor washing habits. She went some months with just a rub with a linen cloth, if I remember rightly. The key was clean underclothes.
