To want to clean this mould off my shower

Help! It's on the rubbery sealant stuff, not the grout. Mildew remover doesn't shift it, nor does scrubbing. It seems to have kind of infected the sealant iyswim. Any home remedies or do I need to replace all the sealant Confused?

Mix bleach with washing up liquid, leave on overnight and then wash off

Ruhrpott · 07/09/2017 19:32

Thick bleach on kitchen roll or cotton wool put on it and leave overnight

noenergy · 07/09/2017 19:32

Bleach on its own left on overnight

Regularsizedrudy · 07/09/2017 19:33

I think it would be easier to reseal than try to get rid personally

Notevilstepmother · 07/09/2017 19:33

You can try thick bleach on cottonwool left in place overnight if you can keep small children away from it. It might not go completely but it will fade and kill it to stop it spreading.

If not you might need to re do the sealant. It's not that difficult, but a,e sure you get mouldy resistant sealant.

Notevilstepmother · 07/09/2017 19:34

Make sure.

grecian100 · 07/09/2017 19:34

I did the bleach overnight before and the next morning there was no sealant left and the shower leaked through the living room ceiling so be warned.

Titterofwit · 07/09/2017 19:34

Bleach is good as PPs have said but if its stubborn stuff Kilrock mould spray works wonders

dolphinbbq · 07/09/2017 19:34

HG Mould spray.. can buy it in B&Q. Spray it, leave 10 mins and wash off. Every bit of mould will be gone!

Notevilstepmother · 07/09/2017 19:37

That's odd. I've never known bleach remove silicone sealant. I wonder what it was sealed with.

Potato25 · 07/09/2017 19:39

As PP said, HG mould spray. It's really really good! It just disappears somehow.

Rosieandtwinkle · 07/09/2017 19:39

Have you tried Dettol Mould & Mildew remover? I leave it overnight and it works a treat! Smile

CarrieBradshaw85 · 07/09/2017 19:42

I had a similar problem. I used Dettol Mould and Mildew Remover then squirted Domestos Ultra White and it looks good as new.

tinytoucan · 07/09/2017 19:44

I found HG mould spray good on grout but didn't really help the sealant. Maybe made it fade a bit but still very visible.

ArseholesOnToast · 07/09/2017 19:44

I found Cilit Bang black mould remover to be really good. Spray it on,
Eave for just 2mins then rinse off.

Bang and the mould is gone!

I had tried other mould removers but they didn't work.

Howtoodo · 07/09/2017 19:47

You need to remove the sealant with a Stanley knife and spray the mould with the dettol stuff then reseal. The sealant used is not suitable for showers so ensure the next one you use is suitable. You will never get to the core of the mould problem just spraying or bleaching over this wrong sealant

kitnkaboodle · 07/09/2017 20:01

Thanks all - will give a couple of the products a go, then get it redone if necessary. You're all so handy!

Make sure the new sealant you use is silicone and not acrylic.

seven201 · 07/09/2017 20:07

I think you need to take it all out and re-seal with a good quality mouldy proof sealant.

LegoLady95 · 07/09/2017 20:07

Make mix of bleach and soda bicarb into a paste, apply and leave overnight. Sometimes there is nothing for it but to replace the sealant though.

Ohb0llocks · 07/09/2017 20:10

Try astonish m&m it's amazing. £1 in b&m

Fluffyears · 07/09/2017 20:22

I tried bleach on cotton wool
Overnight and it didn't work. I got HG mould spray and kept spraying it every few hours, it was like magic as it was totally gone the next day. I didn't want to resealbetc as I was selling the house.

deadringer · 07/09/2017 20:23
