Ooh this was one of my childhood meals.
I still make it, but with a mountain of grated cheese melted on the mash.
Add salad, boiled eggs, beetroot and lashings of salad cream!

PookieSnackenberger · 06/09/2017 21:22

Mash? And salad?

It's not even October.

There should be a Law against mash and salad. It is wrong on every single level.

Laska5772 · 06/09/2017 21:25

Salad is acceptable with cold meats and pickles on Boxing day ( esp if it is winter coleslaw ) but The Rule is more Roasties!

Mash is wonderful but only with sausages, stews, casseroles etc.. or as topping on fish or shepherd pies

CleopatraCatLover · 06/09/2017 21:30

Gross

CreepyPasta · 06/09/2017 21:42

CoughLaughFart · 06/09/2017 21:46

Do you take everything so seriously? Or just shit on here? I'll get a grip when you lighten up a bit!

Yuck. This is the kind of thing my Grandma would serve up. Like the time she put tinned mushy peas on a roast dinner like it was a perfectly normal thing for a human to do.

Such people are clearly lizard people trying to blend in and not quite managing...

WaitrosePigeon · 06/09/2017 22:00

Cricket?!

TittyGolightly · 06/09/2017 22:03

I was given mash and salad after giving birth - that was the hospital kitchen staff's best effort (I'm vegetarian - it threw them completely for several days). They were really pleased. I rang DH and got him to bring me food.

Babyblues14 · 06/09/2017 22:05

I had a jacket potato with salad and coleslaw for lunch but that is the closest I will ever get to mash and salad Grin

cushioncovers · 06/09/2017 22:08

Urglewurgle · 06/09/2017 22:08

MrMessy · 06/09/2017 22:11

Urglewurgle · 06/09/2017 22:12

OverTheHammer · 06/09/2017 22:15

Holds, savage hand up. We had it yesterday with a nice piece of quiche. Not my first choice, but I didn't have enough bigger potatoes specimens to do 'em baked. No one complained. What's your problem!

ReinettePompadour · 06/09/2017 22:16

Granny used to serve champ (mash potatoes with ham/gammon, spring onions/scallions, mature chedder all mixed up together) with salad.
Other than that, mash should never be served with salad.

ThreeSangriasFloor · 06/09/2017 22:16

My dad's quick go-to dinner for himself is scrambled eggs and mash. Its so worn there arent words.

ThreeSangriasFloor · 06/09/2017 22:17

CoughLaughFart · 06/09/2017 22:18

Take a leaf out of your own book! If you can't handle the responses don't post!

BexleyRae · 06/09/2017 22:20

I have a friend who still winced at the time she came home and her husband had prepared salad & mash for tea. He couldn't see anything wrong with it, she couldn't eat it. I agreed with her (vom)

OverTheHammer · 06/09/2017 22:21

Course I can handle the responses - I'm just curious as to how anyone could take this so seriously! It's clearly light hearted!
