Spider season is here and I saw this beauty when I was grabbing a cheeky after work burger. I think it's a cardinal spider but I'm not sure as this one was about 10cm across and the poor thing was terrified so it ran under a door before I could get closer.

I linked the Wikipedia image below too

10cm? Wow, spindly spider legs!

Freezingwinter · 06/09/2017 08:35

One of those got onto my leg via the bath towel
My scream woke the whole street

Fekko · 06/09/2017 08:37

It's the big fat ones I hate. I once called my dad because there was one the size of a pony in my kitchen sink. Dad was 600 miles away!

Poppingoffnow · 06/09/2017 08:38

😱

Fucky · 06/09/2017 08:39

There's one of those hanging around in my kitchen near the dogs bowl. I'm sure it steals her food

Fekko · 06/09/2017 08:40

They like cat and dog food. Or isthat hedgehogs? I'm being plagued by fruit flies at the moment.

Poppingoffnow · 06/09/2017 08:42

If my cat's food attracts the buggers then my cats can go hungry Wink

BroomHandledMouser · 06/09/2017 08:43

Check this one out!

I went to go for a wee yesterday morning and saw this big bastard in there!

All the years of checking before I sit have paid off...oh yeah 🙌

My dd has a severe phobia. I dread spider season Confused

ZeroFuchsGiven · 06/09/2017 08:46

Awww, I have one of those, She is called Tilly the toilet spider. She lives in a hole in the wall where the water pipe runs, Dp and I had a lot a little wine last night and decided she looked hungry so we were taking her flies and putting them in her web, she came and collected them and took them in her hole Grin

Crunchymum · 06/09/2017 08:47

Your toilet is very clean Broom Grin

Fuck me though. I'd die of fright if I found that down the loo.

Thekitten · 06/09/2017 08:50

Cute!!!! I love spiders :D admittedly I'm a bit wary of the biggish ones (pictures are fine!) but we do our best to stay out of each others way :) I haven't seen any house spiders for some time as my cats are master hunters, but I'll be welcoming them in. ... if they can find a safe space from the
cats that is 😆
I just think they're amazing creatures, and some are quite beautiful :)

LEMtheoriginal · 06/09/2017 08:52

As a former aracnophobe I love seeing these threads. I did some voluntary work in a lab that collected spider venom. Everything fromBrown recluse to giant bird eaters Grin I'm fascinated by spiders now. Immersion therapy?? Lol

fancysquillium · 06/09/2017 08:58

Found this sadly deceased person in pony's stable water bucket :(

I didn't he friendly spider program at London zoo and there were some children on it. The other thing I did was take my dc to London zoo when he was starting to show signs of spider phobia and we did some exposure therapy ourselves. It worked like magic.

I did the friendly spider course too and it did bugger all for me Sad

oliversax · 06/09/2017 09:21

I have a false widow living between the two windows in the bathroom. A while ago I noticed a lot of money spiders in the bathroom. Realised they are not money spiders but baby false widows. One of the 'babies' now fully grown turned up in the sink the other day. I'll try and snap it.

oliversax · 06/09/2017 09:24

It's hiding. It tends to stay behind the frame in the day time then hangs upside down in its web at night. I am scared of all spiders but it feels a bit like a zoo exhibit behind the glass. Hoping no more babies turn up.

Karatecas · 06/09/2017 09:24

I'd rather have spiders than crane flies.

I think the spiders (and I only mean the ginormous ones) run back in before I can close the front door as I must have put out 15 in less than a week! Hmm

FairyDogMother11 · 06/09/2017 09:24

Zero that made me laugh Grin

troodiedoo · 06/09/2017 09:27

Sweet jesus Pamplemousse17 how can you sleep with that beast in your house Shock

rebelnotaslave · 06/09/2017 09:31

If you put house spiders outside they die :(

They need to live indoors. They are completely harmless.
