Do Hermes get a kick out of being unhelpful??

Ordered some maternity clothes which were due today. Great I thought, I can change into something that fits me when I get home from work. Get home, no parcel. No parcel in the shed. No note through the door. I checked the online tracking. Apparently it was signed for by a neighbour. We live at the end of a 4 house terrace. Next to us is a 6 house terrace. Opposite is a farm and another terrace. Which bloody neighbour have they left the parcel with?! Am I supposed to be psychic? Do I know on all the doors in the immediate area? Surely leaving a card with the house it's been left at is not difficult. Perhaps he couldn't find his pen. Slight rant, sorry!

Also expecting a delivery from Yodel later and due to go back out to work. Who wants to put money on that working??

Hermes have been an unmitigated disaster every single time they've delivered something to me.

Make a complaint to the company you bought the items from if you can't find them, and even then I'd be letting them know about this. Lots of people go wrong by assuming any complaint needs to go to Hermes when it doesn't, your contract to have these goods delivered to you safely is with the retailer, and the courier they choose is just an intermediary. If enough customers let them know about their shoddy experience they'll choose a different courier as it's negatively affecting their customers experience of shopping with them and many people will write them off in the future.

Hope it appears soon.

Hermes round by us are known for stealing parcels. If anything goes missing you can guarantee it was supposed to be delivered by them. They also frequently leave things in "safe places" I had a parcel left in my neighbour two doors downs back garden and another on my doorstep on a main road. Not in anything just the cardboard box on the doorstep in the rain. Had to send my broken electricals back

Didiusfalco · 05/09/2017 16:38

I think leaving no card must be their new thing. I've had this twice recently. Had to phone the company I ordered from to find out where the delivery was. The hermes helpline is also awful.

Bluntness100 · 05/09/2017 16:49

I think it depends on the driver and less about the company. Our Hermes driver is a lady and she's lovely, very reliable and cheery. However when she's off, all bets are off too. I recently posted a thread about the usually reliable Dpd. Whose driver actually took a close up picture of his thumb as evidence he had been and attempted delivery, when in actual fact he was totallly lost and never came near. Sigh.

Dpd's email response, sorry about that,we've asked the driver to call you if he gets lost next time. Yeah ok, thanks for that. Couldn't he have called me first time round, why does he need to be told.

BigBerta · 05/09/2017 18:16

Agree with bluntess 100%, used to have a lovely driver for about 2 years, never any problems. Now hes left and it seems to be a different driver every bloody time now and theyve all been awful. Parcels delivered but no idea where, parcels showing as delivered but havent been and then my absolute favourite no access Hmm.

Hermes are pretty shite for resolving things too, takes them days to even reply on twitter/email and the call center isnt much better.

If you do have any issues with yodel contacting them on twitter (in my experience) always gets the problem resolved.

Bluntness100. I wonder if we share the same lovely Hermes lady. I sometimes think I see more of her than I do of my husband!

The worst one I ever had was a p/t driver employed at Christmas who said he had left the package in our non existent outbuilding. Amazon sent out a replacement and I forgot about it until a few weeks later when it was discovered round the side of the house. It had been chucked over the fence and then been covered by snow!!

LittleCandle · 05/09/2017 18:24

Our Hermes guy is lovely, although I thought he was a grumpy git when he first came round, but I suspect he is a bit shy and he's here so often that we've become quite chummy. But I hear all sorts of horror stories about them (the company I work for uses them for deliveries) and I don't think the vetting process is particularly good.

strongswans · 05/09/2017 18:31

I've just had a nightmare with Hermes, apparently my parcel that was due to arrive was misdirected, so allow 24 hours. Checked tracking yesterday afternoon and apparently they had tied to deliver 3 times wth no response. Interesting as I hadn't been out at all! I spoke to them and they changed tune and said they didn't recognise the delivery address and to confirm it with the retailer which I had already done. So the failed attempts were a lie. Funnily enough a multitude of other companies and Royal Mail can find me! Am now getting a refund but won't be until after the retailer gets it back and then processing time! Can you feel my anger!

I had a parcel delivered yesterday which was left in a safe place. The note to tell me the parcel was in a safe place was left on top of the parcel Hmm

NoParticularPattern · 05/09/2017 21:27

Oh god delivery drivers. Royal Mail and DPD seem to find us fine, as does our Hermes man but that's mainly because he's mates with next door haha!! But holy Jesus DHL, Yodel, City Link and Parcelforce are useless. I've had parcels in the bin, under the bin, in the coal shed, under my car (!), and just chucked in the middle of the yard. And their call lines are all unhelpful at best.

Raging? Me? Never!!

SomeOtherFuckers · 06/09/2017 01:53

Apparently appartment no1 signed for mine at 12pm on a Tuesday ... one guy lives there and he's always at work at that time .. I duly checked ... no package .
Hope someone enjoys their new clothes Angry

AnstasiaBartAraminta · 06/09/2017 02:20

Omg yes!!! I ordered a ted baker ipad case. They said they came twice, never did. I waited in for them on both the days. I then had to go back to work so re arranged for the parcel to be delivered to a different address, my friends home, number 11 on her street. They delivered it to number 7? But on the website it said it had been delivered to my friends house? Luckily it was a friend of a friends house the parcel was delivered to and she gave it to my friend. Tried calling them numerous times prior and the people always have the worst customer service skills. Same with yodel :/

cakesandphotos · 06/09/2017 08:44

The parcel did turn up at a neighbours after I trudged round knocking on doors. I obviously have no problem if they leave it with a neighbour but would it kill them to just leave a note saying where it is? my note is probably lying on the mat of the other next door neighbour
However Yodel did leave a note saying they'd left my parcel with a neighbour and said which. It was the same neighbour so I had to skulk round again to pick up my parcel which was a pram so not small!

Hermes are shit. I sold a pushchair on eBay and sent it by Hermes. They damaged it and sent me an email saying I wouldn't be delivered as it was damaged. I had to refund the buyer and claim the money back through Hermes and then suddenly they had no idea about the parcel and wouldn't refund without photographic evidence of damage although they still had the parcel. I fought them for 6 months before I have up.

FairyDogMother11 · 06/09/2017 09:21

Hermes once delivered a parcel to my sister, the guy didn't even knock or put a note through before chucking the parcel that said "fragile" into their garden. The glass bathroom cabinet was smashed to pieces and Hermes had the cheek to act as if they hadn't done anything wrong.

Saz467 · 06/09/2017 09:30

Yes. In a word.
