To think its possible to go away 2 adults and 2 kids in the school hols for under £1500?

Never done an abroad holiday with the kids, and the last one we did at all was mega cheap and not in school holidays.

We couldnt afford to spend more than 1500, even that will be a stretch (getting rid of Virgin Media, changing utility providers, reducing our meagre food budget).

However I really want my dcs to have a week in the sun, and experience an airoplane and tbh Im sick of self catering/self drive/uk only/cook and clean holidays.

Can it be done?!

Watching with interest - in the same situation

Didiusfalco · 04/09/2017 18:21

How many adults and dc?

georgedawes · 04/09/2017 18:21

We did it two years ago, with ryanair flights to Malaga and a bargain hotel I found. However, everything seems to have gone up in price since then!!

Do you want to include food with that? You could do self catering I'm sure for that price.

Pizzalove · 04/09/2017 18:23

I am doing 5 of us for 2 weeks in Majorca in school hols for 1654. Just have a look on the onthebeach website.

NapQueen · 04/09/2017 18:24

2 adults, 2 kids (would be 3 and 6). I would LOVE AI but even I know that is fruitless. So half board, self catering if nothing else.

Lol Didius it says 2 adults and 2 kids.

I'm the same situation so watching with interest.

Pizzalove · 04/09/2017 18:25

Mine are 10,6 and 3. I am sure you can do it at the price. It's harder for me as I have more kids. I have booked hols as we are fined for time off.

Didiusfalco · 04/09/2017 18:26

Sorry Blush end of a long day.

mailfuckoff · 04/09/2017 18:27

We have just had a week in France. So too ish for self catering house, 162 for channel tunnel. 300 pounds spending plus approx 150 on credit card for food petrol and toll roads. Beach and cheap activities every day but it was a week away

Pizzalove · 04/09/2017 18:27

We are going to Arcos Playa apartments

Steeley113 · 04/09/2017 18:27

I found AI in Spain for 1600 for 5 of us. Not in school holidays, for that price I think it's worth pulling them out and risking the fine.

mailfuckoff · 04/09/2017 18:28

Sorry should be 500 ish for accommodation

Pizzalove · 04/09/2017 18:29

If we take out more than 5 days we go straight to court unfortunately. No 2nd chances

PissedOffNeighbour · 04/09/2017 18:30

We've just come back from the south of France and had a week in a eurocamp caravan and return flights to nice for 4 of us for about £1,500. Think hire car was £200 ish extra. We were SC and did eat out a lot and that was on top but we could have spent less by having more BBQs etc at the campsite.

jemsywemsy · 04/09/2017 18:30

Air BnB can really cut costs for a family. Also if you're disciplined enough to pay it off every month it's worth looking at a credit card that you can earn air miles on, although it takes some time to save them up www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/boost-avios-points

Steeley113 · 04/09/2017 18:31

You're eldest is the only one in school, like my situation. You'll save more pulling him out and risking a potential fine, £60 per parent. The savings are worth it. Plus, they're only 6! Not like it's exams or anything.

CheeseGirl4 · 04/09/2017 18:31

Have a look at www.icelolly.com for bargain last minute package breaks, bearing in mind spending money needed etc. will vary depending on the location you choose. You might get it cheapest just before you go, but that could be risky of course.

Note3 · 04/09/2017 18:31

We are doing ibiza in Oct half term for £1,600 all inclusive for 5. If you're prepared to go in the spring or autumn you'll get all inclusive for your price or cheaper.

jemsywemsy · 04/09/2017 18:32

Going at the very end of the (English) school holidays can save you a bit too as people prefer not to come home right before school starts.

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 04/09/2017 18:33

Yes absolutely, we did it for 2100 with three kids all inclusive. Middle July to Lanzarote. Last year I got Feurteventura for 1300 all inclusive.

I could get you one easily.

NapQueen · 04/09/2017 18:33

Steely id happily pull the 6yo out for a week but dh is a TA so its a no go for him regardless of dc.

I would check with your lpcal authority. We are not given the option of taking 2 weeks and fine. You would go to court. Please check as this only came in here this month

NapQueen · 04/09/2017 18:34

October half term would work but it would have to be sat to sat or sun to sun for dh work.

Where are you flying from and what would the dates be you could go between.

Holidays are more expensive just now for next summer until after xmas then they tend to go down. I usually book in about February/March for that summer and October time for Easter hols.

CheeseGirl4 · 04/09/2017 18:36

Here's one you could get for under £1000 for 2 adults and 2 kids all inclusive (I picked Oct 21st and Northern airport so might be a bit more or less, with some money still for a trip or two. www.icelolly.com/deals/mix-columbo2
