Fucking Cunting Trolls

MsHooliesCardigan · 03/09/2017 18:42

In the past week, I have posted on threads about someone's 15 year old niece taking their own life and today somebody wanting to give their 4 year old son up for adoption. They both turned out to be trolls. I love Mumsnet, I really do and I have seen many situations where those in genuine need of support have been massively helped. I have PMed a Mumsnetter at 4am asking her to call me if she wanted to talk after she had been assaulted by her DP. She did and we subsequently met up.
I have had a huge amount of support myself from Mumsnet but I am getting really weary of it now.
I work in mental health and it's something I feel really passionate about which is why I was drawn to the threads I've mentioned.
I know that there isn't much anyone can do about it and I think MNHQ do their best as both these threads were taken down pretty quickly.
Just needed to rant Angry

Imagine how sad the person who stalks those saddos must be then 😂

I'm not sure that there is anything MNHQ can do about it

I have always thought that the ease of namechanging makes things easier for trolls. I don't think namechanging should be banned just limited in some way.

They'd just sign up with new emails all the time instead.

Sparklingbrook · 03/09/2017 21:47

I guess so Barbies. Trolling is a full time job and they will always find a way.

Demander · 03/09/2017 21:50

Apparently Demander you're my sockie.
I have no idea what that means either.
And I still don't know what Reddit is or why it's a dark secret. 😀

Sparklingbrook · 03/09/2017 21:51

Demander are you very new here?

BellaNoche · 03/09/2017 21:55

I'm glad that this thread was started. I'm fairly new here and although I have answered some threads I have not started any myself. Instead I've watched so many threads disappear - I am totally bewildered as to what is true and what isn't. I'm no fool in rl but not great here on the Miss Marple front ...

I'm presuming the woman who lost her very young child.....it was not true... ?

I have almost full time care of a relative's toddlers ( my own are adults now) and finding it all a struggle. I thought I might get some support/advice..

I know it is a public forum and there many good people here but I'm just increasingly feeling bewildered rather than finding my feet.

Since I joined, I've seen lots of threads disappear. One reporting on the death of a child really affected me. I understand why people are suspicious of new members... but for people like me well... all this doesn't help me... and that is no intended criticism of people on the thread here at all.

I once said about the limiting name change thing and someone came along and listed about ten reasons they would need to namechange. Grin

Perhaps it would have to be 5 a day to start with. Someone else claimed to namechange for every thread. Shock

But I think 5 names each would be fine. Use them wisely.

MarciaBlaine · 03/09/2017 22:05

Why does anyone need 5 names? We've done holiday names on here and all changed after Jeffrey, but one for normal posting and one for "is that you UCM? Embarrassing type stuff" is plenty.

BellaNoche · 03/09/2017 22:06

@DixieNormas
thanks for the reply. it was kind of you, appreciate the advice Smile

Applesandpears56 · 03/09/2017 22:09

I didn't get why the woman whose sleep was different from her husbands thread was pulled - seemed so geninue - I have no idea either how to tell what is real and what is troll/sad person who makes up stories for attention. Think I need to take a break from here too

Demander · 03/09/2017 22:10

Demander are you very new here?
Newish.. I don't visit much.

Peanutbutterrules · 03/09/2017 22:12

Increase in trolls is IMO linked to increased 'links' with Daily Fail. The drive for more clicks brings in a lot of people who aren't interested in the community.

Demander · 03/09/2017 22:13

Why does anybody need more than 1 name?
I find it hard enough to keep track of my names and passwords on FB, twitter, Amazon, email etc,
I'm just not attuned to the art of trolling, I shall google more 😀😀😀

If you want to ask about something very personal you might not want it linked to your regular user name in case you get outed.

Oh pack it in now PandorasXbox. People can use more than one forum. Stop getting your knickers in a twist about it. It's really not something you should be investing this much time into! You're getting a bit obsessed now.

endehors · 03/09/2017 22:17

That's why I name change, purple. Though I only have four names I think. One is very obvious it's me, as is the same language, but opposite, to this username (and I've already outed myself with that one Grin)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/09/2017 22:17

There could be an HQ name people could log into ,with their permission, to post sensitive topics anonymously.

Sparklingbrook · 03/09/2017 22:18

You would probably want a different name to overshare in the Sex topic, maybe another to criticise your family, another to criticise your child's school/teacher so there's 3.
Oh and maybe one for intimate medical problems...
