Fucking Cunting Trolls

In the past week, I have posted on threads about someone's 15 year old niece taking their own life and today somebody wanting to give their 4 year old son up for adoption. They both turned out to be trolls. I love Mumsnet, I really do and I have seen many situations where those in genuine need of support have been massively helped. I have PMed a Mumsnetter at 4am asking her to call me if she wanted to talk after she had been assaulted by her DP. She did and we subsequently met up.
I have had a huge amount of support myself from Mumsnet but I am getting really weary of it now.
I work in mental health and it's something I feel really passionate about which is why I was drawn to the threads I've mentioned.
I know that there isn't much anyone can do about it and I think MNHQ do their best as both these threads were taken down pretty quickly.

It WOULD be a genius double bluff on a mass scale though, wouldn't it? If they'd all made an enormous point of complaining about trolls, troll hunting and all separately going to the bother of getting themselves banned for trollhunting just so they can now all gather on Reddit and form a trolling collective?

When this sort of shit happens, I console myself with the thought that some people reading may have found the replies helpful, because they're in a situation similar to the fictional one.

yes lakielady I wa getting really down about it.and now every thread if it seems extreme or anything not on the norm I worry its s troll.but the thing is the extremes do happen so like you just said which really hit home.other people will indeed be going through it.so maybe on the thread It will help someone not able to post themselves.

Not all the REdditors are troll-hunters. Some are PBP (for legit reasons, not just odd ones!), some are GF who are revelling in saying some pretty nasty things now that they aren't constrained by the PA rules, but most are frustrated with how things have panned out over the last few months. TBH, the David stuff just brought it all to a head, it had been simmering for a little while

To be fair, that wasn't just because people 'didn't like it'. There'd been a spate of threads about teachers making children of a specific age wait for ages to have a wee, and it appeared that they were being posted by someone with a fetish for that particular topic. So I think it was more a case of not wanting people to be duped into providing wank fodder for a creepy weirdo than just people not liking the thread.

Wrt the Reddit subs, there's none of the head-tilty, deliberately goady, passive aggressiveness that has become ubiquitous on MN.
