Thoughts please......

I will join you on the livid couch.
Is it your own 14 year old?

GreenTulips · 03/09/2017 00:42

Depends was it in her home? Because it's not actually illegal -

FinallyDecidedOnUserName · 03/09/2017 00:50

Was at my house. She brought it with her. I was running back & forth making cups of tea so not in the room.

Was absolutely furious & threw her out of my house.

Crispbutty · 03/09/2017 00:51

Has it made her sick? Hopefully it has.

I got drunk on tequila at 15 and was violently sick for two days. 30 years later the slightest whiff of it still makes me heave.

LittleBirdBlues · 03/09/2017 00:53

How old is your friend?

Wjile giving a 14 year old tequila is obviously wrong, there's a big difference in whether out friend was 19 or 39.

LittleBirdBlues · 03/09/2017 00:53

Your not out, sorry.

claraschu · 03/09/2017 01:00

What do you mean by giving tequila?

Is this a case of: "You can have a tiny taste of my margarita"? or: "Let's do shots"?

FinallyDecidedOnUserName · 03/09/2017 01:02

She's about 45. I've no idea where her head was. I got hold of it about half a shot in. If I hadn't God knows how much they would have had. The kids felt it was pushed onto them. So so cross.

OP posts:
safariboot · 03/09/2017 01:03

Neat? I imagine the 14-year-old is annoyedGrin. Unless they've been drinking it on a regular basis before.

Yes, YANBU to be annoyed.

FinallyDecidedOnUserName · 03/09/2017 01:03

This was the whole lime, salt, shot scenario.

FinallyDecidedOnUserName · 03/09/2017 01:06

Told friend in front of 10 other friends it was totally unacceptable and asked her to leave me house - she did.

Am furious my kids have had this pushed onto them & tbh they not happy about it either.

OP posts:
userlotsanumbers · 03/09/2017 01:06

YANBU
I'd be furious, livid, and to be quite frank, not quite sure the 'friendship' would survive, especially as the kids felt it was pushed onto them.

InsomniacAnonymous · 03/09/2017 01:12

I don't understand why she would do that. You were right to throw her out.

FinallyDecidedOnUserName · 03/09/2017 01:13

User. Pretty much what I'm feeling. Honestly reeling from it but absolutely telling 'friend' to get out of my house was justified.

ohtheholidays · 03/09/2017 01:20

YANBU how immature is your friend?

Even if you were giving a teenager a taste of something you'd ask the parents first.

Rednailsandnaeknickers · 03/09/2017 01:24

45??? When I first read your title, I assumed it was the child's friend i.e. Another teen not your friend, a supposed adult?!

And tequila? Good god! A sip of wine or beer if the parent has okayed it, maybe, but full on tequila? Bleeurghh!

Rage away OP, she's totally in the wrong.

Neutrogena · 03/09/2017 07:10

14 yrs old smoke, look at open and drink. US BY to be eggy, though MY to be a bit miffed

Phosphorus · 03/09/2017 07:19

Neutrogena ,

Have you had a visit from the OP's friend? Grin Gin

Crunchymum · 03/09/2017 07:20

So she gave a shot to more than one of your kids? Did they drink it?

Were you having some kind of party?

StealthPolarBear · 03/09/2017 07:21

oh but better they try it safely at a young age etc etc
bollocks! I'd be livid too. the more people who refuse to normalise young teenager so drimking the better IMO. well done for not playing it down, for taking a stand

Neutrogena · 03/09/2017 07:26

@Phosphorus

Nope, not me!

I'm alcoholic myself and not had a drink in over 10 years.
Sounds like the child was safe trying tequila in a safe environment.
Too many precious people on these threqds

PlasticPatty · 03/09/2017 07:26

Good grief. What's wrong with you? She should have asked but the fourteen year old could have checked with you, too. You had the child at a party with adults - why did you do that if you weren't expecting the child to be treated as an adult?

Or did the friend bring tequila to afternoon tea?

SparklingBollox · 03/09/2017 07:34

Oh bloody hell, I am far from precious when it comes to most things actually. I am certainly a lot more relaxed about alcohol than some of the people I know.
I would be fine with my dc having a sip or even a small glass of wine / beer etc at 14 but shots of tequila are something else.

whiteroseredrose · 03/09/2017 07:55

Dear God. I'm quite a liberal parent but that's ridiculous.

My DC were offered wine/fizz etc with meals or at celebrations when younger. But no way would DD (14) be offered neat spirits!

Your DC being around the house when you've got friends over for a few drinks doesn't mean that they're invited to join in! YANBU. I'd have felt the same.

Riddo · 03/09/2017 08:04

YANBU. I'd have been furious.
